As the Lord had Moses raise up the nehushtan (a bronze serpent on a pole) in the wilderness so Christ was lifted up likewise so that all who look to Him will be saved.
Since the devil misuses and abuses things to evil ends maybe we shouldn’t be surprised if he will end up using a profession whose symbol is like nehushtan to give a stage for the beast to show himself.
