There’s no violence and the truckers appear to have strong support nationally and internationally.

I grew up in Montana, close enough. I can tell you have a lot more in common with Canadians from Alberta than I do with the scum of California.
The merchants in my town always tried to slip Canadian coins into my change to pad their profit due to the exchange rate in the 1980s was CA $.75 to $1 US.

Canada is a little different. The Ottawa police are in charge of this mess. They are getting a little help from other municipal police forces and the OPP but that will end soon as the protests spread to Toronto. The RCMP has their hands full out west with the protests there and the army has said they will not get involved.
The municipal police forces in Canada do not have much experience or training with persistent mass protests. I don't think they even have rubber bullets or water cannons, which would be useless in this case anyway.
Western democracies, especially the Anglosphere, are governed by the consent of the governed. Politicians have forgotten this fact.
Canadians haven't forgotten and are withdrawing their consent.
