Nancy Pelosi has put forward a plan to limit the actual in-person attendance of the upcoming State of the Union address to 25 people. According to Alayna Treene:

Kevin McCarthy is said to have replied that “Democrats fly on planes with more people than they planned to allow on the floor.”
This is perfectly understandable. By that time the Upsilon variant will be ravaging the country, infecting hamsters and guinea pigs from coast to coast. Or maybe it’s the white supremacists that Nancy is worried about. One of them might sneak in if you allowed more than a busload of people to attend. Or it could be those January 6 protestors – they might come back, at least the ones that aren’t being kept in solitary in condemned 19-century-era jailhouses.
But we know what it is, don’t we? The day is not far off when Joe will step to the podium and begin conversing with Corn Pop (or Satchel Paige, one or the other), or start swatting imaginary flies, or screaming that velociraptors are coming in the doors.
This is inevitable, and everybody outside the Beltway knows it. Just last week, during his infrastructure speech in Pittsburgh, Joe went into a wild rant about the woes encountered by the parents of diabetics, who, according to him, have to choose between food and insulin for the children. Would not surprise me if her plan included several hours delay before any broadcast, giving her media shills time to spin the odd excerpt they broadcast.

Not allowing attendance is better than nobody showing up by their own choice. You know...like Biden’s circle rallies.
why doesn’t she go all the way and restrict the audience to 25 “journalists” of her choosing? That way the speech will be given the highest marks ever for a SOTU address, and we’ll never know that what we saw on our TV was a pre-recorded address that was spliced together from numerous takes.
Pretty obvious that Nancy plans to choose as the audience her 25 most obedient minions who would have no problem swearing forever and ever that it was live.
McCarthy should play along, let’s start a list of who the 12 GOP attendees should be:
1) Marjorie Taylor Green
2) Rand Paul
3) Rep. Gaetz
4) Donald Trump - Guest of Minority Leader
5) Whomever can be trusted to blurt out stuff during the speech
6) Rep Boebert
7) Jim Jordan
8-12 ?
Why not do it by Zoom call?
Joe can speak from the fake tv WH office across the street.
Sure, it may be live....
But the networks have, for many years, instituted something called the ‘6-second delay’ when it comes to things over the air that might become suddenly ‘inappropriate’.
I can just see Biden’s speech get interrupted by a ‘Technical Difficulties’ chyron and the network talking heads (aka ‘paid liars’) coming on to explain that there was a problem with the feed.
