In California, the leftists who see “racism” everywhere are now claiming that their own rooftop solar program creates “racist” “inequities.” Their contradictory “solution” is to create a new tax on the very same solar power that they are subsidizing.

In California, the leftists who see “racism” everywhere are now claiming that their own rooftop solar program creates “racist” “inequities.” Their contradictory “solution” is to create a new tax on the very same solar power that they are subsidizing.

By Daniel Alman (aka Dan from Squirrel Hill)

January 30, 2022

For more than 20 years, California has been giving homeowners financial incentives to install rooftop solar panels on their homes. The goal here is to encourage the use of solar power.

Because whatever you subsidize you get more of, the program has more than achieved its goal of one million solar rooftop installations.

That should be a cause for celebration.

Except that we’re talking about leftists here. And leftists always find something to complain about.

In this particular case, they are claiming that their own very successful program, which they have been supporting for more than two decades, has created “racism” and “inequities.”

And their proposed “solution” to this “racism” and “inequity” is to create a new tax on the very rooftop solar installations that they have been subsidizing for more than two decades.

Just as subsidies lead to an increase in whatever is being subsidized, taxes lead to a reduction in whatever is being taxed.

So instead of celebrating the success of their own solar rooftop program, the left is now trying to discourage the very same thing that it had been encouraging for more than 20 years.

California is what happens when the left gains total ascendency.

Even Gerry Brown on his way out said this state needs a real opposition party, but Greasy Gavin seems totally OK with the corrupt autocracy his party with the help of the batsh*t nuts leftwing voter & a large immigrant constituency has created.

The two sides CANNOT co-exist.

Anyone that thinks they can change someone’s mind to the contrary is a moron.

Does that mean that an insane liberal cannot, one day, see the light and realize how much of a moron they’ve been all these years? No. But that is not something that someone else is going to change. That has to come from a life changing event that they experience all on their own.

That being said, if there are any that still think a National Divorce isn’t needed, I’d say that you’re slightly in the same camp as the liberal.

There is ZERO reason for one side(Conservatives, the Right) to allow the other side(Liberals, Communists, Progressives, Hipsters) to move into and destroy decent places, as they seem to be doing, almost as if it’s some sort of plan.

It would be nice if life became so uncomfortable for the Left, in many places, that they decided it was time to pack up and move back to the places the previously destroyed, allowing the rest of us to live in peace.

Out here in CaCaLand there is no difference between any “democrat” and the worst Karen you can possibly imagine. Such behavior is institutionalized. All they want is to control and dictate everything.
Imagine nurse Ratchett (sp?) with an electrified dog collar on every neighbor — “You thought something I don’t like - ZZZT!” That gives them wet dreams.

It is almost reality, BTWay. Coming to your state next.

California used to be the starting point for innovation.

Now, California serves as a warning to others.

We’ve got Californians here who have solar, how much of your savings will be lost?

Digging deeper, this much:

Among other features, the PUC’s plan would impose a monthly charge of $8 per kilowatt on rooftop solar installations. That would come to about $56 a month for the average system in Southern California Edison’s zone in Southern California, and about $48 for the average system in Pacific Gas & Electric’s Northern California region.

Californians, you know how much you are saving. Will solar still be a good deal after this tax comes into play?

These people were already insane, but mass formation psychosis has made them even worse.

I’m here too, and I agree with you. My term for the core of the liberal mind is “insufferable self righteousness.” They’re convinced that they’re smarter than you, and therefore better able to order your life than you. So they always have to find new ways to prove these propositions even if, as here, it involves revising stuff they’ve already done based on a new rationale.

“The worst things in life are free.”

First, the government “gives” you, with your own tax money, the solar panels almost for free. Then they tax the solar panels. When people quit installing solar panels they mandate them and still tax them.

“First, the government “gives” you, with your own tax money...”

They are going to do exactly the same with EVs by taxing them by the miles driven after subsidizing them using the people’s tax revenue to get people to buy them.

Win-win for them, lose-lose for you.

I see you understand the game the left plays.

Reagan had it right about them.
If it moves tax it
If it still moves regulate it
And if it still moves subsidize it.

The two sides CANNOT co-exist.

You are spot on, your entire post is.

The radical left (AKA most of the activist left) literally hate those who don't agree with them. There is a ton of evidence supporting this conclusion. As exemplified by the Cultural Revolution in China and those who died in Russia at the hands of the Bosheviks as the USSR began, socialism/Communism-driven intolerance is lethal and is not amenable to discussion.

Every government subsidy devolves into just another scam racket and a tool for government control.

I think it is hilarious that they are turning on the wealthy liberals who were proudly virtue signalling their concern for the environment. Serves them right. I would hope they learn something from this, but I am not holding my breath.
