And to think how far our society has fallen morally since then. As a Bible believing Christian, I am concerned about the messages being sent by our leaders in Hollywood, politics business. We need to discourage the victimhood mentality along with the message that you are special no matter what. Instead, encourage hard work and selflessness.

Companies that can adopt the Costco and Sam's Club model will survive, the others will be targeted even more.

Entrance by membership only. Get caught stealing and they bill the perp's account and rescind the their membership. The perp is trespassing if they enter the store again.

“How much walks out the door from self checkout?”

At Walmart? Not much. Those self checkout registers have cameras & you’re being watched,

Here’s a test that you can do. When you go to look up an item, let’s say bananas, and you hit “look up item” and then the screen comes up and looky here... Bananas are like the first selection.

Do you know why? Because the computerized checkout recognizes the bananas that you were putting on the scale. No Foolin! And the hardware all around that area is also looking at you.

“It’s women. They shoplift. What do you expect when they’re going through a divorce?”

I had a job early on waterproofing basements at with a company and the work crew dump truck jackhammers buckets lots of gravel Cove in it was a tough job and some of the places we worked we’re not necessarily easy to access.

Anyway, one day co-worker named Joe needed a ride about 15 Mi away and I said no problem. So we get down close to where he needs to go and he says pull into the Kmart and my wife will be standing out front, which he didn’t mention initially but it was not a big deal.

Pulled in front of Kmart the wife gets in the back seat and she starts pulling all kinds of merchandise out of from under her dress and coat and out of her purse and it was show and tell time. I’ve never seen anything like that before or since. I think she was a pro. I mean, it was haul. Nice lookin’ girl too.

“Politicians that let this happen should be arrested”

And the people who voted for them should be flogged... and never be allowed to vote again.

I grew up in Rome, my dad’s side of the family is from Union Street. Ever since Griffis got BRACed and the industries shut down, the city went down down down. My mom had her purse stolen at Pinky White laundromat.

Part of the problem are the stores - namely the "big box" ones - that won't prosecute. I live in an area where the cops will chase down the perpetrators, prosecutors will prosecute, but if the stores won't file a complaint there ain't much they can do. More of a problem with Woke corporations than Woke authorities.

Sorry to hear your mother had her purse stolen. I grew up in Rochester, NY, which is another city that went to shit over the years. I moved to the Utica area around 1972 with my then husband. Got divorced in 1979, and eventually moved to Rome in 1998. Retired from NY State's prison system in 2003, and have stayed in Rome since that time.

A Best Buy store closed in our area. Rumor has it that it was closed because employees were robbing the store.

My house is close to the prison. I remember when it was the NYS School For The Retarded.

I lived in Utica for a while, too. Sin City, lol. Corn Hill, which was terrible. Then just off Bleeker St. little Italy. The neighborhood is so different now. Oscugnizzo’s is still the, though. The best pizza ever.

"My house is close to the prison. I remember when it was the NYS School For The Retarded."

Andrew Cuomo closed that prison (Oneida) when he first became Governor. My ex-husband was a teacher at Rome State School (Rome Developmental Center). The State is closing six more prisons this spring. They claim crime is down, but that's only because they aren't sending criminals to prison anymore, but simply releasing them back on the street so they can continue with their criminal ways.

"I lived in Utica for a while, too."

We briefly lived on Noyes Street in Utica. We also lived on Scott Street farther down Genesee Street. Chicago Market was just down the street from us across Oneida Street, as was the original Symeon's Greek Restaurant, and if I remember correctly, Manny's Restaurant was down from Symeon's at the corner of the arterial. I used to walk over there periodically, and buy one of their small cheesecakes.
