There’s no shortage of water itself, so I wonder if it’s a profit-per-pound-shipped issue, and with limited shipping space something more profitable is taking (bulky/heavy/cheap) water’s spot on the truck? Amazon Fresh had no distilled water a couple of days ago as well (I’m in Phoenix).

I bought a bunch of the large 12.5oz cans of walmart chunk chicken breast... 1.63/can and free shipping!
I also bought a bunch of rice and a boatload of canned soup.
I like to make a pot of the walmart bean and bacon and add a bit of instant rice to it...good stuff.

It’s amazing how regional and local the shortages are.
Population density versus available outlets and inventory, freight transportation (aka lift capacity) available and in a timely fashion in a given geographic region - all kinds of variables in play. It's been ebbing and flowing in my locale for some time, though here recently there are empty shelves now to be seen consistently in any and every store, even Dollar Tree. Some of it crap I wouldn't miss, to must-have items. Also noticed various brands no longer have varieties of a product stocked. Just the one particular version or flavor now, take it or leave it.

You can’t really blame people for using a neofascist state like Australia as a piñata-
Most of the voting public just let themselves be steamrolled by the pearlclutching matriarchs that are (rightly or wrongly) seen as running things there

You can’t really blame people for using a neofascist state like Australia as a piñata- Well, I can, when Australia is not a neofascist state and the reason why so many people believe it is is repeated misinformation like this.
"You can't blame people for believing this lie, because the reason they believe it is because they believed all the other lies" makes no sense at all.
Note, I'm not saying there haven't been issues in Australia - there have been some genuine problems. But ninety percent of what has been spread is crap heaped on ten percent of truth and it's getting ridiculous. And more and more crap just gets piled on.

Just in time” is not a robust system. But everybody adopted it. It has failed, along with Democrats the world wide, practicing policies of the “government knows best”, caused this. That’s not a fair assessment. The real issue stems from people grasping onto an idea without really understanding the nuance of it. That nuance is that JIT isn’t someone one does...it should actually come about naturally after doing a lot of things. That list includes: improving quality, reducing changeover times, improving quality and throughput, etc.
But in typical American way, and to be fair, many other areas of the world; chased JIT as just another program and failed in the fundamental execution if it.
