Vanity: NYT Looking to Hire Reporter to Cover "Right-Wing Media"
Vanity ^

Posted on 01/19/2022 12:22:31 AM PST by TigerClaws

The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world. That means independent journalism is at the heart of all we do as a company. It’s why we have a newsroom that’s 1,700 strong and sends journalists to report on the ground from nearly 160 countries. It’s why we focus deeply on how our readers will experience our journalism, from print to audio to a world-class digital and app destination. And it’s why our business strategy centers on making journalism so good that it’s worth paying for.

Note for US based roles: Any offer of employment is contingent on providing proof of Covid-19 vaccination prior to your start date, subject to approved medical and/or religious exemptions, in accordance with applicable law.

Job Description

The New York Times is seeking an experienced, ambitious and motivated reporter to cover the news outlets, online communities and influential personalities making up the right-wing media ecosystem that now serves many conservative Americans who no longer rely on the mainstream media to inform themselves.

The ideal candidate is resourceful, persuasive and prepared to inhabit corners of the internet that popularize far-right or extremist ideas, providing our readers with a critical listening post on those ideas before they achieve wider circulation.

Candidates should possess the skills and judgment to determine where and why these ideas take shape and to assess their veracity. We’re looking for a journalist who can successfully research and report on the people behind these ideas, shedding light on their motivations and sources of funding, mapping the connections and networks and analyzing how these ideas are being received and acted upon.

Experience at document-based investigative reporting is especially important.

You should be able to build and maintain source relationships even in adversarial situations and collaborate with colleagues covering politics, disinformation, technology, religion, national news and other subjects as a consummate team player.

Successful experience covering right-wing media, disinformation or political extremism would be ideal, and a robust list of reporting targets would be highly attractive. But we would consider compelling candidates who are new to this beat.

Mastery of breaking news and deadline reporting is essential, as is a track record of producing scoops as well as analytical pieces, features and ambitious enterprise stories.

Prerequisites include the backbone to withstand aggressive blowback, impeccable journalistic ethics and the ability to report accurately, critically and fairly on people with extremist views.

This job will be based in New York and will report to the Politics desk. It is represented by the NewsGuild of NY. To apply, please submit a résumé, cover letter and five work samples.

The New York Times is committed to a diverse and inclusive workforce, one that reflects the varied global community we serve. Our journalism and the products we build in the service of that journalism greatly benefit from a range of perspectives, which can only come from diversity of all types, across our ranks, at all levels of the organization. Achieving true diversity and inclusion is the right thing to do. It is also the smart thing for our business. So we strongly encourage women, veterans, people with disabilities, people of color and gender nonconforming candidates to apply.

The New York Times Company is an Equal Opportunity Employer and does not discriminate on the basis of an individual's sex, age, race, color, creed, national origin, alienage, religion, marital status, pregnancy, sexual orientation or affectional preference, gender identity and expression, disability, genetic trait or predisposition, carrier status, citizenship, veteran or military status and other personal characteristics protected by law. All applications will receive consideration for employment without regard to legally protected characteristics. The New York Times Company will consider qualified applicants, including those with criminal histories, in a manner consistent with the requirements of applicable state and local "Fair Chance" laws

Candidates should understand than they do no not actually need to understand the subject of their reporting. Candidates do not actually need to know or interact with any Republicans or conservatives, and certainly no one who voted for Trump,

Our task is not actual journalism.

Sorry, NYT, your record of bias, partiality and falsification says otherwise.

Are they not simply asking for candidates to gaslight ordinary Americans, spy on them, lie about them, betray their confidence, coax them into doing or saying things that they wouldn’t otherwise consider doing or saying, and expose them to tyrannical oppression?

The unspoken part of the job description is that they would be doing the bidding of Donkey Party or Uniparty globalists and Deep Staters without the benefits of federal employee status.

I’m confused, is the NYT looking to hire someone, or the FBI?

“The mission of The New York Times is to seek the truth and help people understand the world.”

That’s two lies right there in sentence #1. Nope, the mission of the NYT is to gaslight the public into believing false and wrong things, for the benefit of leftist elites.
