Generally a volume of whiskey measured by wrapping your hand on a glass and pouring to that depth.

“Sounds like head cold”

Except me, my wife, my son, my daughter, ALL tested positive for COVID.

We were all vaccinated and boostered prior as well.

Why don’t you leave the “getting past it” to the Lord then? The bad part was the initial testing of the vaccine “uptake” by old cell lines.( which i do think was wrong but also bad science. The uptake testing should have been done on cell lines from people already born and have lived for a while since that is what the virus would be attacking...living people who had had other diseases that their immune systems had dealt with.) If that part of it is a “bridge” too far for you then by conscience, you must never take the shots. The vaccines themselves were not made by fetal cells or aborted baby byproducts and the actual final testing of candidate products was done on adults.

For those of us who decided to be vaxxed, in my case because I deal with the covid sick in the ICU, there are many of us who’ve had our conversations with God about the shots. So what is that to you? Live your own life before the Living God as you must, as the rest of us must also do. Leave the judging of other vaxxed Christians to Christ.

Yes,
Stress Weakens the Immune System
In the early 1980s, psychologist Janice Kiecolt-Glaser, PhD, and immunologist Ronald Glaser, PhD, of the Ohio State University College of Medicine, were intrigued by animal studies that linked stress and infection. From 1982 through 1992, these pioneer researchers studied medical students. Among other things, they found that the students' immunity went down every year under the simple stress of the three-day exam period. Test takers had fewer natural killer cells, which fight tumors and viral infections. They almost stopped producing immunity-boosting gamma interferon and infection-fighting T-cells responded only weakly to test-tube stimulation....
For stress of any significant duration - from a few days to a few months or years, as happens in real life - all aspects of immunity went downhill. Thus long-term or chronic stress, through too much wear and tear, can ravage the immune system...The meta-analysis also revealed that people who are older or already sick are more prone to stress-related immune changes. For example, a 2002 study by Lyanne McGuire, PhD, of John Hopkins School of Medicine with Kiecolt-Glaser and Glaser reported that even chronic, sub-clinical mild depression may suppress an older person's immune system. Participants in the study were in their early 70s and caring for someone with Alzheimer's disease. Those with chronic mild depression had weaker lymphocyte-T cell responses to two mitogens, which model how the body responds to viruses and bacteria. The immune response was down even 18 months later, and immunity declined with age...
The researchers noted that lack of social support has been reported in the research as a risk factor for depression, an insight amplified in a 2005 study of college students. Health psychologists Sarah Pressman, PhD, Sheldon Cohen, PhD, and fellow researchers at Carnegie Mellon University's Laboratory for the Study of Stress, Immunity and Disease, found that social isolation and feelings of loneliness each independently weakened first-year students' immunity. - https://www.apa.org/research/action/immune

Therefore the incessant promotion of Covid-phobia as endangering lives actually helps to foster the very thing it is premised to combat, while disproportionately failing to deal with comorbidities which are the driver behind most Covid-assigned deaths.

" We've gone from China Corona Virus 2019 to just covid, which covers about 9 active viruses. "

And "Washington" covers a multitude of locations, however, in the context of politics and government, most everyone knows what it refers to. Likewise with Covid in the context it is used in.

" I am 60 and smoke about 1/2 pack a day and drink. I am 5’9 and 189.."

Your BMI is 27.91, which is considered overweight. As for smoking, you know it is not good (and expensive), but hard to quit, while this is interesting as regards immune system.

Ample evidence has shown that both innate immunity and adaptive immunity are susceptible to cigarette smoke, which interrupts immunological homeostasis, causes various diseases, and exerts paradoxical effects on immune and tissue cells through regulating NFκB and MAPK signaling as well as histone modification. In particular, cigarette smoke acts as a double-edged sword that either exacerbates pathological immune responses or attenuates the normal defensive function of the immune system, possibly owing to the complexities and functional diversities of cigarette smoke components and individuals' medical condition.
Nevertheless, smoking plays a harmful rather than beneficial role in either case. Perhaps, tobacco smoke manufactured from different parts of the country may differ in actual chemical components. It is unknown why smoking is always deleterious rather than beneficial, even though it exerts dual effects on immune responses. For instance, cigarette smoke generally weakens immunity against infections but paradoxically promotes autoimmunity. We speculate that the weakened immunity with prolonged chronic infection results in cross-reactive autoimmunity against both a pathogen and cross-reactive self-tissue.
It is also possible that cigarette smoke exerts differential effects on immunity in the context of various regional immunopathology and diseases. Although previous studies have revealed some of the cellular and molecular mechanisms responsible for immunoregulation induced by cigarette smoke, the exact mechanisms underlying smoking-associated immunopathology remain mostly unclear, which warrants further investigations.
This study was partially supported by a grant from National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC 81471550).

Good stuff.

I’m just a bit younger than you, but otherwise about the same.

I was at a trade show 350 miles north of home. Woke up with a sore throat that I thought was due to a bad nights sleep. Went to the show. Didn’t feel better, nor worse. Left the show and bought a home test. Popped positive. Spent the rest of the day in my truck until the show ended.

I went into the hall and packed up and bugged out.

Drove home the next morning. Upon arrival I started on Ivermectin, Querciden, and a whole slew of vitamins with different letters.

I was very tired and had a very strong and pretty cool amount of brain fog for about a week. My concentration was only good for a minute or two then I’d drift off. It was actually kind of fun.

I did get Regeneron Antibodies but since I was so mild due to Ivermectin I didn’t notice any benefit.

I now proudly sport a new sticker on the window of my truck that reads “COVID-19 VETERAN”

Like the context of the discredited (by the CDC) PCR test which cannot distinguish the Corona Virus 19 from the various flu and cold viruses but is still being used?

The PCR test will give positive for many things and plus the many false positives. So yes, everyone has covid who test positive.

Positive 2 weeks ago. Fever and chills. Fiance started feeling bad. Negative, but chest xray and had pneumonia and upper respiratory infection. Antibiotics and shes feeling fine. I’m still getting over “something”. After fever went away now chest thingy. Haven’t been tested again for Covid. Headed to golf course. I’ll use my own cart and stay away from everyone. Should have a good crowd today. 60 is the high and next few days look not so good. Should have about 20 in our group. Have 33 on our list. About half have had Covid.

First round of Covid for us was pretty bad. 2020? 2 weeks sick and first 2 lost about 30 lbs. After that most symptoms mild other than fever and chills and loss of smell and taste. Lately mostly like a cold or flu. Not fun but not life threatening. Lost 2 from “old man’s group” early in year. One 61. One 68. Graduated high school with 1st. Seemed to be in good health. Ventilator and then gone....

Yes, I have reported on this also: even the CDC acknowledges that some persons can continue to test positive for COVID-19 even 60 days after being infected,[184] and even up to 3 months after diagnosis and not be infectious And a high percentage of persons testing positive via PCR tests have such a low viral load that they are not likely to be contagious.

And which relates to the rather liberal criteria for classifying persons as being Covid cases. See here.

Lots of possibilities. An even more extreme example is a couple who are friends of ours. The wife is in her mid 40’s and is a close friend of my wife’s, the hubby, a “maybe twice a year” “fishing buddy” of mine, is ~ 20 years older than his wife. Kind of a cantankerous old fart — I probably wouldn’t hang with him at all, but he’s got all sorts of health problems and the wives are close, so I feel like I have a responsibility to be a bit “extra-decent” to him. She was a very vivacious, active woman, tho’ a bit overweight, but not grossly so (esp. B4 COVID). Neither eat particularly “healthy” — mostly on her, as she does almost all the cooking - he’s not really up to it, but, he’s slimmer than she is, and she’s just moderately obese. (Maybe needs to lose ~15-20% of her weight.) He has pretty serious COPD and a 20 yard walk on level ground to a fishing spot has him red-faced and wheezing... Due to that, and other likely issues with inflammation, his doc strongly advised him to NOT get vacc’d, but his wife to get the shot as early as possible

Anyway, mid fall of 2020, she comes down COVID & ends up in the ICU. Then has multiple stays (in and out) in the hospital, finally recovering enough by mid-November to further recuperate at home without more hospital stays. But, her lungs were badly damaged, it took a year with therapy so she could go out in cold weather to feed their animals. A vivid memory is me having to go over to their place just after dark on Christmas Eve of 2020 as a nasty cold front was blasting in, to clean and then load up all the feed bins and waterers — in windy 22 deg. and dropping fast conditions. Brrr!!!

My wife’s friend is still not “100%” and may never be, but at least she can feed their animals in all but very extreme conditions, now.

All this in a house with smallish, cramped quarters.

Hubby never got the bug, never had symptoms and never tested positive, despite massive exposure from his wife B4 she developed significant symptoms.

Go figure.

Thanks! That additional context really puts things into perspective!

I take it that your husband is still engaged in some sort of commercial occupation (gainful employment); that is no doubt an additional plus for his health.

Good luck and regards,

Well, I only retired a few weeks ago, so our ‘exposure’ and activity have been pretty much the same.

I really believe that the main thing protecting us has been that we’ve taken reasonable precautions without taking it all too seriously.

There’s an old story about the plague:

A man met the Plague on his travels, and asked where the Plague was going.

Plague said he was going to the city to kill 5,000 people.

A few days later, the man encountered the Plague again and said that 50,000 actually people died.

The Plague replied that he only killed 5,000, and the rest died of fear.

Just to wrap things up, I tested negative on Tuesday and Wednesday and my sniffles seem to be gone. Did I have Covid or a false positive? Who knows? I have my annual physical in march and will ask my doctor to see if I can be tested for antibodies. I do remember having a cold with a persistent cough for a few weeks back in late ‘19. Was that Covid? Once again, who knows?
