While Alec Baldwin was patting himself on the back for FINALLY complying with a search warrant for his cell phone, the set armorer made the shocking revelation that the actor REFUSED to attend a cross draw safety meeting.
I have no interest in Baldwin, but his inability to keep his mouth shut may help the investigation/prosecution.
If he didn’t attend the safety meeting, the armorer should have refused to issue him a weapon. She should have “revoked his arms card”. Period. No training no gun.
This doesn’t relieve Baldwin of culpability, but it sure sounds like an admission by the armorer that she wasn’t doing her job.
“Mr. Baldwin, you have the right to remain silent. What you lack is the capacity.”
When the recent school shooting suspect was drawing weird stuff they should have pulled him from school and got him mental help. Same here, Arec needs mental help.
But do you really want to get “mental help” for every “wierd stuff”. Who defines weird stuff? Who enforces?

This is the year 2022. We need to simply accept that some gunslingers cross draw. They were born that way.
When I go to WalMart I see kids parading around with the butt of their Colt pointed forward and on their left hip. For most of them it is a phase they outgrow once their middle aged spread develops and reaching around their Budweiser belly becomes difficult.
However, some people crossdraw all their lives. Who am I to judge?

As I understand, Baldwin was practicing a crossdraw when the gun went off. A crossdraw is when the shooter pulls the gun out of its holster, say with his right hand, from the left side of his body. Thus, he's drawing the gun across his body. There is a right way and a wrong way to do it (you don't want to break the 170), to avoid an accident.
Baldwin is a sick, evil person. There is not one thing funny or amusing about him. To think that he drew that!!!! After he killed a woman leaving her little boy motherless.... Like I’ve stated, supreme narcissist, NO empathy for anyone other than himself.

Baldwin had absolutely no business "practicing" any weapons manipulation except on command from the Director. That is one of the basic safety rules on a movie set.
Those commands are supposed to be given after the cinematographer sets up the camera, not during the setup.
And of course, immediately prior to a rehearsal, all weapons are supposed to be unloaded and cleared by the Armorer or authorized Weapons Handler. Not loaded with "blanks". Unloaded and cleared. Not left unattended on a cart outside. None of this "send a flunky outside to pick a weapon at random off of a cart" either.
Baldwin should be asset-stripped down to his underwear in civil liability suites. The Armorer should go to jail.
Most likely, neither of these things will happen.
