Lawmakers have proposed bills to repeal the pistol permit requirement for years. They have passed the Senate but not the House. The endorsement by the GOP caucus indicates this could be the year a bill passes both chambers.

Alabama has strong support for passing a statute to restore Constitutional or “permitless” carry in 2022.
Alabama passed a Constitutional amendment strengthening the previous amendment protecting the right to keep and bear arms in 2014, with 72% of the vote.
“(a) Every citizen has a fundamental right to bear arms in defense of himself or herself and the state. Any restriction on this right shall be subject to strict scrutiny.
(b) No citizen shall be compelled by any international treaty or international law to take an action that prohibits, limits, or otherwise interferes with his or her fundamental right to keep and bear arms in defense of himself or herself and the state, if such treaty or law, or its adoption, violates the United States Constitution.”[4]
Alabama has been considering Constitutional Carry for years. The major stumbling block has been the sheriff’s association’s opposition to permitless carry.
The Alabama Senate has passed Constitutional Carry bills more than once. The bills have failed in the Alabama House. That seems to have changed. The Republican Caucus for the Alabama House of Representatives has added Constitutional Carry as a priority for passage in 2022. Republicans control 3/4 of the seats in the Alabama House.

no state needs to pass constitutional carry... they just need to recognize it and stop infringing on our constitutional right.
Yes your right but it is has been faster to pass such laws.
In Mobile County, Alabama, it could not be easier to get a gun permit. It’s still wrong. The sheriff and DA, both of whom have stellar reputations in the community, showed their true colors over this issue. The DA said that permits are an important tool for getting criminals off the street and some other stupid word salad rational for permits. I wonder if she believes the criminal, while getting prepared for his criminal activities, thinks, “damn, I can’t take my gun, I don’t have a permit”. Anyway, if it weren’t for black people shooting mostly each other (which they have been doing a lot lately) the local news would have nothing to report on except someone smashing mailboxes or something.
The founders did not define “shall not be infringed” in the Constitution......./s
we are supposed to act like we don’t know what it means, like with natural born citizen....../s
My only concern is that while permits are no longer REQUIRED, that they remain AVAILABLE.
They are good for repricocity states, and for purchasing firearms without a NICS check.
Permits would remain available.

Yup. I renewed my CCW in Texas even though we now have Constitutional Carry. Mostly because of the reciprocity issues.
May?
I'm sure they'll be delighted that they have your permission.
