Composite College Football Early Top 25 Rankings For 2022: Alabama, Ohio State Take Top Two Spots

Who is ready for 2022?

Several national publications have put out Way Too Early Top 25 rankings for the 2022 college football season.

The consensus at the top has not changed. Alabama, Ohio State and Georgia are the top three choices and likely will be the front-runners for the 2022-23 College Football Playoff.

Who else could make a run? Sporting News posted its Way Too Early Top 25, but we also took a look at other publications. We compiled a composite list using rankings from ESPN, CBS Sports, Sports Illustrated, The Athletic, Yahoo Sports, 247Sports, Action Network and Athlon.

We used an inverse scoring method (awarding 25 points to a No. 1 selection, 24 for a No. 2 selection, all the way down to one point for a No. 25 selection) to determine the highest possible score for each school.

The guy Notre Dame should’ve gone after was Luke Fickell- mind boggling a major school has not gone after him.

Cincinnati shouldn't be the farm system for ND coaches, LOL. And even Urban played at UC.

I’m glad Cincinnati made the list. I’ve never been on the campus or even visited the city of Cincinnati, but I earned one unit from the university when I took an online course.

Really Clark? Any team in the country would be happy to be 6-3 in title games.

But the offense certainly was much better at the end of the season, and with their defense, they really didn’t need all that great of an offense.

Clemson has the second ranked scoring defense in the country, which certainly didn't hurt. But their offence ranked 13th in the ACC. Admittedly there were a lot of injuries and Lawrence left unrealistic expectations for his successor, but I'm not sure that Uiagalelei is the answer. I suppose we'll find out next year. Either he continues to improve or Clemson will have to find someone else.

Darn it... My team (UConn) isn’t in the top 25... Darn it... 🤓

Cincinnati is a joke... They play in the AAC American Athletic Conference, a bunch of directional schools - East Carolina, South Florida, Central Florida and a bunch of teams no one cares about - Tulsa, Tulane Temple. SMU and Houston are the 4th and 5th teams in Texas...

This year.

UGA is losing a lot of players, while Bama will have more juniors and seniors with experience, and Young is coming back.

Yes, we might have a winning season next year, we might win 4 games. Fresno State at home (Rentschler Field), might be a game we might win. We have a few Big 10 (Michigan at the Big House) and ACC.

Us UConn fans got a coach who'll turn the corner. We have Jim Mora as coach and young assistant coaches.

Time to hit The Boneyard, the UVonn fan site!!

Well, that "joke" trounced America's Football Team, the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, 24-13.

I will say the one “basement” team I think will start to get much better is Kansas.

And beat the coach who left Cincinnati for Notre Dame (who now is at LSU)

I look at the patterns since Saban has been at Bama. The most he’s gone without an NC since 2007 is two years.
