“Citing his intelligence and carefulness with words, Tucker pushed back against the Senator’s explanations.”

Absolutely. Smart of Tucker to bring that into the argument. Cruz is a clever wordsmith, and he knew EXACTLY what he was saying. Another pol might get away with an, “Aw, shucks. I mis-spoke”, but not Cruz.

““Cruz might be running for President.””

Well, he has already lost...

There’s no return from where he went.

But did he apologize for using those words or did he just try to explain it away.

He was spinning for all he was worth.

Fail. In every way imaginable.

He’s done.

That’s what Ted always was. I remember getting the scorched Earth treatment when I pointed this out, and detailed his lies in fully sourced posts, on this forum. I think one thread I started had like 1000 posts on it by the end of it.

Cruz is first and foremost a slimy lawyer.

I had just hoped that he was smart enough to bend the knee with Trump around and not put his soulless ambition ahead of the country again as he did before.

Obviously, I overestimated his intelligence.

“He was really tap dancing.”

Yes indeed. Cruz was acting his part as a spinmeister.

Couple things going on here:

1)Cruz is making a play for the weak and stupid wing of the GOP base. They have Trump fatigue and want validation for wanting Trump gone. Even if it means being ruled by Marxist Democrats. So Cruz gives them what they want and hopes they will see him as a future conservative standard bearer.

2)Everybody in the swamp GOP wants Trump to lose in 2024. They’ll do all they can to be divisive in the run up to 2024. They know all they need to do is get some GOP voters to stay home in 2024 to defeat MAGA.

“ But did he apologize for using those words or did he just try to explain it away.”

Both.

And that was the beginning of his fail.

I’ve been around a while so this sort of thing really shouldn’t affect me. But Ted Cruz words felt like the worst betrayal, a hideous lie to aid the worst people.

I find it really hard to forgive. Absolutely sickened and disgusted. I’m glad Tucker gave him such a hard time.

It seems like a ridiculous political suicide and betrayal. For what? Was he blackmailed?

Ted Cruz also talked about impeaching Biden. Before he did so, I told myself that anyone who pushes hard on that is a fraud, because it just results in president Kamala. The only people who should be pushing this would be Soros orgs to waste the limited time and energy of conservatives.

He was apologetic in tone, but not explicitly.

Just posted this thought on another piece....

Later on the show when Jason Whitlock was on, he agreed with Jason that Cruz needed to be given credit for having the guts to come on the show. It’s a rare occasion to disagree with Tucker but this is one such time. This has very little to do with guts and it’s actually quite simple... It was pure hubris that convinced Cruz to make the ‘terrorism’ speech that he did and as part of that hubris, he was already looking down the road with lofty plans and thinking that this was part of ticket. The firestorm backlash that was stuffed down his throat made it clear what he had to do... J6 one year later only comes around once and if he didn’t take that gambit of going on Tucker’s show, he was done. It was a gamble and his hand was forced to take it. It had zero to do with guts.

As for whether that gamble paid off... I don’t think for one second the jury is out on that one. It didn’t.... he is well and truly done.

Sort of like fleeing Texas for Cancun in one of the worst Snow Storms

I don’t care what he calls them. All this BS about January 6th should have meant he focused on one and ONLY one topic. That would be the stolen election. He even voted to certify it.

Instead he decided to flip the finger to the protesters.

The Election was STOLEN. It was a coup. The protest was completely justified. He should feel lucky that it wasn’t a true insurrection which would also be justified against the junta installed by the coup.

Cruz claims that he always calls people who attack policeman “terrorists“.

I don't believe any of those people locked up in DC Gitmo actually attacked policemen - unless they were trying to defend themselves from the DC cops going berserk. And I don't believe any of the AntiFA or FBI agitators were actually arrested - just people who got caught in the Capitol Building when the doors were opened, and they were invited in.
Cruz really stepped in it. Reminiscent to the time in Chicago (2016) when a bunch of communists shutdown a Trump rally, and Cruz came out supporting the communists. You never support commies - who are trying to destroy America - even if you are trying to win political points. Cruz has now done this twice.
