Grammys have been an abject joke since around 1992 when they abandoned using the results of the votes of members to determine the 5 nominees in the “major” categories.
They established a nameless, faceless panel that would look at the voting totals and then “select” from “among the top vote getters”, the nominees. The focus was on more diverse (i.e. non-white) nominees.
It was 1992 or so. They were ahead of their time, in wokeness.

Last time I watched, Jethro Tull won for Best Heavy Metal band.
To the dismay of heavy metal fans everywhere. The album they won for 'Crest of a Knave' was actually pretty good, just inappropriate in that category.

They may not have found enough deep pocket sponsors.
Over the last 10 years, more folks have been convinced not to bother. Too predictable, too many Slutty Rappers sweeping up the awards just for being slutty.

I agree. When Mick Jagger performed on Grammy about ten years back it was embarrassing, his talent compared to the newbies. He was already around 70 at the time.

Yeah, sure, blame a virus. Abysmally low ratings have nothing to do with it. Who wants to watch that trash?

Well Tommy Iommi was with Jethro Tull for a few weeks, he was actually with them when they played on The Rolling Stones “Rock and Roll Circus”.

Interesting. Ian Anderson isn’t very prone to do covers. I always thought ‘Locomotive Breath’ was one of the best rock songs of that generation... still do.

That’s right! Their performance and Marianne Faithful’s were the main reasons to watch that movie in my opinion.

Actually The Who’s “A Quick One (While He’s Away)” was the highlight, along with The Dirty Mac’s “Yer Blues”.

I was never a big fan of The Who. Tommy a little bit. I don’t remember the band doing the Beatles cover... should watch the film again. The Stones kept that film under wraps for years, they were disappointed with their own performances in it.

If they didn’t announce it, no one would have noticed.
