Everywhere around the world it is the back-up for when their own money collapses. This article is thus of less relevance to us who have no easy fallback.

Except for all of the licenses and permits required to run these enterprises you might be able to go "underground".

Until all of the bureaucrats get out of the way and the gang bangers are "deterred", these aren't likely solutions here.

As for repair and maintenance, that's fine if you don't need PARTS!

I’m thinking ammo. When we collapse I won’t trade food or medicine for silver or gold. But I might for ammo.

You will wind up trading it for critical things you run out of.

Few things are critical, but they exist and the list varies from person to person.

Its better to pick up things for trading right now that you know will have value.

alcohol, small single serve bottles and cans

cigarettes.

cigarettes will be currency

batteries

salt/spices

garbage bags

many of these have a small footprint and you can pack a lot of them in a small space. plus many of them you may be able to use yourself

Good list. I started a collection of alcohol for trading but wife drank it over the last year. Had some mini bottles as well. Need to start again, but this time I need to buy stuff she can’t stand... like gin.
