So I looked up the history of the name. Originally the team was founded in Boston and took the name of Braves since they shared their home field with the Boston Braves baseball club in 1932. The following year they moved to Fenway and changed the name to Redskins. I’m assuming to align more with the Red Sox. They moved to Washington in 1937 and retained the name until last year when the woke persuaded the powers that be it had to go.
