A science-based question: who is the bigger threat - the vaccinated or the unvaccinated?

Omicron is causing major disruptions in the economy and among the personal lives of Americans but it's mostly for nothing. You're 80% less likely to be hospitalized with omicron compared to the delta strain. Masks are generally ineffective against COVID and even less effective against omicron.

Yet what is the death toll from omicron? So far only one person is alleged to have died from omicron. Not true.

Public officials and media reported that a man in Texas became the first American to die from the Omicron variant. I checked with the Harris County Public Health Department. Turns out that's not true. Here's audio of my phone call. pic.twitter.com/fIDZNPzYuj

The media continues to do its best to frighten people baselessly. Newsweek puts out this title:

Michigan Loses Hundreds to COVID in 1 Week as Officials Expect Omicron to Sweep State

They conflate delta and omicron into one boogey virus, intimating that omicron is part of the death toll. Worse, they make some unscientific assertions:

Much remains unknown about the Omicron variant, including whether it causes more or less severe illness than previous strains.
Not true.

The analysis, published Thursday by the U.K. Health Security Agency, follows studies in Scotland and South Africa that also pointed to a substantially lower risk of hospitalization with Omicron than with earlier established variants, including Delta. The studies published Wednesday suggested Omicron was on average causing milder disease than earlier variants—though that advantage could be outweighed by its more rapid spread.

You'll need an extra booster shot for that mild virus.

Early studies suggest that the vaccinated will need a booster shot for the best chance at preventing Omicron infection, but that even without the extra dose, vaccination still should offer strong protection against severe illness and death, health officials said.
But omicron isn't causing widespread severe illness and death. If it were, it'd be front page everywhere, and it's not. You might choose to get a booster and that's fine but know this: vaccine effectiveness drops precipitously after 10 weeks:
Booster protection against symptomatic illness caused by the Omicron variant drops by up to 25% within 10 weeks, new real-world data has found – though it is not yet clear if everyone will need further doses in 2022.
There are suggestions that omicron might infect the vaccinated preferentially over the unvaccinated.

The vaccinated are much more likely to be both infectious and asymptomatic … like Typhoid Mary.

The vaccinated are scarier wandering about with their smug smirks of unearned self satisfaction until they get covid anyway

“...with their smug smirks ...”

Can’t see the smirks because many are still masking

The vaccinated are more likely to try to take away your freedoms and your livelihood, and to separate you from the people that you love and care for. That’s dangerous.

A false dichotomy. Too simplistic.

What about the unvaccinated who contracted Covid, got through it and are now naturally immune?

This is a patently dishonest question until that is considered.

Because there are so many more of them, the vaccinated should be more afraid of — more cautious around — other “vaccinateds” who can just as easily contract and spread the Fauci Flu as the unvaccinated. Furthermore, data suggest that the vaccinated can contract and spread an even stronger form of the Fauci Flu because, unlike the unvaccinated, a “vaccinated’s” immune system has been “adjusted”, possibly weakened, by the vaccine itself. (Note: Masking is irrelevant to any discussion of the Fauci Flu as masking has nothing at all to do with, and no affect on, whether or not a person contracts covid.)

“Can’t see the smirks because many are still masking”

Not in my neighborhood. One Democrat proudly proclaims that her daughter works for the CDC and I rarely see her with a mask on and that is talking to people including me.

Hey, that’s only about 150 million people so, statistically insignificant.

Well, it’s the vaccinated authoritarians who are destroying the careers of their non vaccinated peers.

Some people who are vaccinated did so because it was required. I had to get the shot to travel to Iceland. I’m certainly not smug about it nor do I go around trying to influence others to get the shot. It was an informed choice I made because the place I was going required it. Nothing more, nothing less. Some people choose to get vaccinated and other choose to not get vaccinated. Two of my three adult children are not vaccinated and will not be getting the shot. Nor will their kids.

I don’t particularly care who is or who is not vaccinated. I don’t ask and don’t tell. So some on here seem to think that everyone who got the vaccine is some kind of vaccine snob while those who are not vaccinated are some kind of virtuous icon that everyone should emulate.

The entire debate is pointless...if you want to get the vaccine for whatever reason do so. If you don’t want the vaccine then don’t get it. In either case that is your choice and you should keep that private.

Those locking down businesses, forcing masks and clot shots, THEY are the biggest threat.
