President Trump Supports Vaccine, Doesn’t Support Mandates December 23, 2021 | Sundance | 76 Comments
President Trump gave an interview to Candace Owens for The Daily Wire. The full interview is only available for subscribers [link]; however, there is a segment released by Mrs. Owens where Donald Trump talks about the specifics of his position on the vaccine and the mandates.
President Trump supports the three vaccines that were developed during his administration, and is proud of the system he put into place to develop them and get them available to the public. However, President Trump does not support mandating the vaccine or forced vaccination for anyone, and believes that people should have the freedom to decide what is in their individual best interests. At approximately 05:10 of the interview, President Trump notes the specific issue of a government mandated vaccine developed by a private corporation, and the risk of corruption and conflicted interests involved. President Trump accepts that reasonable people would be skeptical of the vaccine itself and would have personal reasons not to participate.
Toward the very end of the interview Trump states he is proud of the accomplishment and will not “give up” on his belief of the vaccine development as a success during his administration. However, he sees the forced mandate as very detrimental to the economy and views the consequences of the mandate itself as a problem for national security.
Given the range of opinions on the issue of the vaccines overall, and the mandate specifically, President Trump’s position seems quite pragmatic and reasonable. He’s proud to have developed the vaccines, believes they are of benefit, but strongly respects individual choice, liberty and the freedom to decide for yourself and your family. I don’t see anything controversial in this position.
She isn’t very good at interviewing. Trying to lead him. The Sean Hannity school I suppose. She should be in politics instead. I have no problem with what Trump said.
See the interesting thing is your position is basically the same position as the want to be tyrants. They say you must take it and you say they can’t. The option is there, as long as it’s not forced, what’s the Issue? Informed consent is fine.
Trump is against vaxxxxx mandates, this is good enough for me. I am a no-vaxxxxer and a high dose D3 advocate.

So many of his supporters are dying off in states with very high vaccination rates, and he probably finally put the numbers together. There was great data lining up COVID reported deaths with counties with a high GOP vote in 2020, and the data correlated. At some time, someone internally must have told him, you are killing your base off unless you do something. Kaiser Family Fund showed the rate of Republican Covid vaccination has plateaued at 59% while 91% of Democrats have been vaccinated--hospitals with COVID wards are predominately filled with unvaccinated (though not all unvaccinated and not all GOP base, some vaccine hesitancy considerably in poor black rural America as well). Nice for him to think of himself first.
I’m curious. What is the “right” position here. The Alex Jones position or bust? I don’t know if there is a cabal of people trying to poison people with the Vaccine. If that is there goal they have a pretty poor rate of success. If you don’t want it, don’t take it. Same with the flu shot. That seems find to me. As long as there are no mandates it becomes a matter of personal responsibility. You shouldn’t be threatened in any way shape or form. No measure of coercion. If all that is off the table I’m not sure what the issue is. At this point, any funding towards the Vaccine shouldn’t be covered by feds either
Same here. We know what demographics are the most at risk (very elderly, nursing home, etc) and it may have been beneficial on the original strain to reduce sickness and death, bit with each variant it is less and less effective.
It doesn’t stop the spread, sickness, etc. so it really has no place in people who would normally just get a very minor illness.
Same here. I had my jabs. I’m 73 with heart problems. For me it was a matter of playing the odds. Whatever level of efficacy it has, it’s better than nothing. But I’m not for the mandates.
Yep. I suspect their is some evidence to support that it helped in say, nursing homes early on bit the it no longer stopping any spread, sickness, etc.
I’m in my 30’s, healthy and worked every day during the worst, exposed to others. Never got sick. Basked on that I don’t see how it can help me.
Trump believes in vaccine choice, therapeutics, and lifesaving medicines. Too bad. I used to trust him.

I hesitate to join others in being in the mood to “boo” Trump for his position on the mNRAshots. I will not take them, autoimmune illnesses here, unfortunately, and distrust the lack of animal trials, etc...
That said, the government autocrats were and are running this show - the media continuing to push fear porn 24/7. Trump was and is between a rock and a hard place, and the dc establishment is still playing very dirty, condemning the therapeutics and the serious doctors who support these.
I listened to Trump carefully, also listened to those qualified, outside of the DC yakkers, and made up my own mind.
I think there just might be so much we don’t yet know about this biowarfare, the Obama/Hillary/Biden gang behind it - not to mention the government funding behind the research that they set up in the past couple of decades.
If it is proven that Fauci, Gates, et all colluded with China to release this upon the world, how vulnerable are we to the rest of the world being royally pissed at us for driving this research?
Trump wants a boatload of money from China in reparations, or so he says, but if we funded their research, what then - maybe demand the same from those in the USA who colluded and profited from the research, the patents, and the sales of the faux “jabs”?
Trump didn’t fund it, but I’ll bet he knows just who all did, and it looks like a very complicated situation. Not easily explained in a few pithy tweets.
Anyway, that’s what keeps me from judging Trump on all of this. But what do I know, couldn’t even find a Holiday Inn last night!
