"COVID-19 vaccine mandate deadlines have come and gone, but the U.S. military has still not approved a single religious exemption.
Lawyers representing troops seeking exemptions say the military is violating the U.S. Constitution and the Religious Freedom Restoration Act (RFRA) and are urging courts to intervene.
“It’s now the point where I think we can call it what it is. It appears to be blatant religious discrimination when the military has now conceded, both publicly and in court filings I should say, that they have approved multiple numerous medical and administrative exemptions but yet they have refused to approve any religious accommodations,” Mike Berry, an attorney with First Liberty Institute, told The Epoch Times.

The Law (as passed by both parties) requires EACH case be looked at individually and judged on it’s own merits. There hasn’t been time to look at even a fraction of applications that way!

On the civilian side, it has been one month since the deadline passed to submit an exemption request. I know of no religious exemptions that were approved or disapproved. No idea what is going on there. The only information provided was within a day or two of exemption submission an acknowledgement of receipt was issued that stated it was being held in abeyance until the EEO types received guidance on how to process them.

The civilian side is training its reviewers in order to deny as many as possible. That is where they are. Different commands will start the denials once they get their legal and EEOC ducks lined up.
