Been saying this very thing for decades now. Big Pharma doesn't want to cure anything -- that makes them no money. They want to TREAT diseases, for the rest of your life if possible. The AP all but admitted this -- not intentionally, IMHO -- in a recent article about how Big Pharma has finally learned how to make money on vaccines.

There are many drugs that are found to be effective treating other conditions that they were never intended for. Example; sildenafil used for treating hypertension and angina pectoris. Low and behold it was discovered that it had an added benefit for half of the population by giving them a little “lift.” The drug was reformulated and given the brand name Viagra. I have yet to hear of a man that cared what it was originally intended for and could care less how much Pfizer makes from it, just as long as they get their prescription!
