"Comedy legend John Cleese, best known for his many roles in Monty Python’s Flying Circus, will be making a formal complaint about the “deception, dishonesty and tone” of a recent interview he did with BBC World News’ Karishma Vaswani.
Cleese is currently working on an upcoming documentary series that is set to explore the effects of cancel culture on comedy. With this project in mind, BBC World News reporter Karishma Vaswani asked the comedian what exactly is it that interests him about the particularly shameful practice.
“Well, it’s a relatively new phenomenon, and of course it affects comedians because a lot of us do jokes that the cancel culture people…woke people don’t think are right, or don’t think are correct, ” Cleese asserted. “So, I’ve been asked to do the program, and so I’ve been exploring and I’ve been reading quite a lot of books, and trying to understand what it’s all about. But it’s quite a complex matter, and it seems to be boiling down to the fact that…I think some people are rather overprotective.”
“I mean, we all want parents to be protective, but we don’t want them to be overprotective because that raises children who are no, perhaps, very well going to adapt to the real world,” the Monty Python star elaborated.

It was at this point that the BBC reporter attempted to counter Cleese’s clearly-educated opinion on the phenomenon. ..."

Those commies never try that cut off then lecture stuff when you are in the same room, only when you are at a remote location.
Not a knock on Cleese, but John Cleese is a comedian first, he’s not a Jordan Pererson.
Jordan Peterson can logically annihilate anyone trying to ambush him.
Well I will bookmark this for later reading. That guy is and always had been pretty funny.
Cancel at will
He and all the Monty python ers went to Cambridge. He’s no slouch, educationally.
True
but he isn’t a professional arguer/debater or in a profession where you are always explaining and defending your logic and at the same time finding flaws in others’ positions
But John was personally attacked and hurt by the reporter for which she should be canceled! That interview was a classical example of an Act of Cancel Culture at it finest which escaped the reporter. The BBC justified her actions as acceptable because she was of the protected class of Journalist while poor John was just a Comedian, which is a classic example yet again Of Cancel Culture in action. John has used his comedic talent of absurdity to demonstrate Cancel Culture at it’s finest, but this point was lost on both the reporter and the BBC since they are too Woke. Thank you John for pointing out the utter inability of The Woke Culture to understand Comedy!
The whole time I was reading this article, I kept hoping that it would end with the punchline of John Cleese being suddenly suspended by his heels from a 7th-story window, and offering a full retraction of his complaint and a full apology for his past "edgy" comedy (à la "A Fish Named Wanda").
Regards,
KKkkken will get revenge!
“You want to complain! Look at these shoes. I’ve only had them three weeks and the heels are worn right through.”
Has the BBC ever apologized for Jimmy Saville?
I came in here for an argument!
No you didn’t!
an argument, or just gainsay?
Yes i did! that was never 5 mins!
refer to post #7 :)
btw , love your tagline :)
Cancel Culture has been going on in the UK media for 50 years, since the days comedians such as Benny Hill were cast out.
It’s almost amusing to watch how succesive generations of comedians, edgy and left for their day, are now considered too right-wing!
A sure sign how things have progressed!
