Formula 1 2021 – The defeat of Woke

In case you missed it the Formula 1 season concluded on the weekend with an epic finale to cap a season so memorable I have no doubt that major studios are already penning their scripts for rival big budget films. I was fortunate to catch one of the races at Monaco, an extra special privilege as the stands were 90% empty due to much confusion over whether spectators would be allowed. I have been an F1 fan for a long time and I understand quite a bit about the sport, but this article will not err towards the technical nor the strategic elements of what goes into making the cars go round and round.

Rather, I will focus on the real battle in this season and how the finale brought about one thing and one thing only:

The defeat of Woke.

The two main title contenders were Lewis Hamilton driving for Mercedes and Dutchman Max Verstappen driving for Red Bull. Hamilton is your quintessential star of Woke. He embodies everything that Woke represents. Nurtured from a young age and given every advantage to succeed in what is a white man’s sport, he sports a chip on his shoulder so large that it would feed every seagull on earth.

Hamilton’s ego positively groans with rage at his own perceived injustices. He labors between fits of pique at any adversary who dares to beat him or any unfortunate team mate who is unable to perform the requisite miracles for his continued success, to sullen moods and broodiness at how he is so downtrodden by all of the white privilege which he is forced to endure. He embraced the black lives matter movement, demanded that his fellow drivers all take a knee before every race, and was then left outraged when a good number of his colleagues refused to get with his Woke program.

He also has had the best race car. The Mercedes is superior to every other car on the grid and has been for several seasons. To understand just how good the Mercedes has been this year, one only needs to glance at the number of points earned by each team’s second tier driver. Valtteri Bottas who drives the second Mercedes is okay in a straight line but he couldn’t overtake a toddler on a tricycle. Yet he finished a good 30 points clear of Sergio Perez in the second Red Bull, a driver who is far superior to the Finn.

Hamilton’s adversary was Max Verstappen. By his looks alone he is a poster boy for all white Aryan lunatics everywhere. His Teutonic jaw underpins his Dutch blonde hair and blue eyes while his rigid discipline and equal disdain for authority ensure a combative streak that guarantees that he is not going to get with any Woke program.

The two fought all year with numerous controversial moments both on and off the track. As the season unfolded it became somewhat apparent that Verstappen hated Hamilton’s guts. Whether that was due to his rival’s tactics, his abrasive personality or his embrace of Woke, Verstappen never let on. Perhaps it was a combination of all three aspects.

Going into the final race the two title contenders were equal on points. Such a finale is what sport directors dream of when they’re not worrying about whether or not they were recorded on any of Epstein’s flight manifests. The final race of the season was held in Abu Dhabi and Hamilton once again made one of his many Woke statements by wearing a helmet that proudly sported the rainbow flag, the same helmet that he had debuted in the previous race at the Saudi Arabian Grand Prix.

After Verstappen secured pole position, Hamilton beat him off the line and comfortably led the race until the final four laps. But motor racing is a wicked sport and the only thing that counts is who goes over the line first on the final lap. A crash from a back-marker brought out the safety car; Verstappen managed to pit for fresh tires and rejoin in a good position; the safety car was in place until the very final lap thus giving the title contenders one lap to battle it out. Verstappen got past Hamilton and managed to hold off a very determined attack on the next to last corner and then secured his maiden world driver’s title at the age of 24, while denying Hamilton a record 8th championship.

Verstappen defeated his oh so Woke rival in the cruelest manner possible. The Teutonic warrior stood atop the podium while the defeated Champion of Woke languished below him, still unable to comprehend just how he had lost. His team attempted several formal protests but the FIA stewards were having none of it and summarily dismissed the lot between long periods of celebration with the customary platters of hookers and blow.

Woke had failed. Woke had come second which meant that it was the first loser. But worse than that, it has been defeated by its arch nemesis – the white man. And not just any white man, but the embodiment of the Teutonic knight of old. For his travails and perceived injustices at the injustice of it all, Hamilton was subsequently knighted by the British crown. It was only fitting.

For those who don’t know, Lewis Hamilton is F1’s woke equivalent to NASCAR’s Bubba Wallace.

As FR’s expert emeritus on F!, what did you think? I was happy to see Hamilton, in his rainbow colored helmet, get passed by Verstappen.

I like the official image of Bubba Hamilton on bended knee before the honky inbred Prince Charlie as he tapped his shoulder with a sword.

Seems racially submissive to me, being the woke white male I strive daily to become.

My understanding is the race stewards bent or broke their own rules to set up the one lap shoot out but I could be wrong in that. Hamilton is a great driver but only when he feels like it and everything goes his way, otherwise he’s a cry baby.

I’m not sure I agree with the “woke” angle on this article at least not completely. Mercedes has the right to complain and file grievances but it’s like in the NFL when your team loses due to a late, bad penalty call and everyone screams at the refs, Lewis and Mercedes should have been so far ahead in place and points by this last race that the bad call wouldn’t matter.
I suspect F1 will tweak the rules again which will hamper Mercedes’ efforts next year.

When Hamilton came into F-1, I left. Hamilton is The Bat-Eared Bolshevik Obama’s clone. I despise them both.

That would be SIR Lewis .... fortunately, we don’t have “knights” in this country so it won’t ever be “Sir” Bubba, but no telling what the ‘woke’ Left will come up with .... he & Juicy S. would likely qualify for a similar ‘title’.

I used to watch NASCAR pretty much every weekend race ... after Bubba’s NOOSECAR episode, I haven’t watched a single race ... just killed my interest in the sport. I think what rubbed me the wrong way so much was the number of other drivers all “supporting” Bubba the next race .... NO noose and they acted like there had, in fact, been one.

Bubba Wallace has very little talent.
I don't like Hamilton much but he is a really good driver, albeit he's had the best car by far for the past 6 years apart from this year when Red Bull caught up with them. Say what you will Hamilton is a 7 time world champion.
This year's race should have been over long ago if not for Verstappen’s burst tyre in Baku with just a few laps to go, with Verstappen leading.

Hamilton was 11seconds clear of Verstappen when the Safety Car came out. Verstappen pitted immediately for new tires while Hamilton stayed out.

Then Verstappen rejoined mid-pack and had no chance until the Race Director allowed all of the lapped cars to pass Hamilton and the Safety Car and rejoin at the back of the pack, leaving Verstappen with new tires right behind Hamilton on old tires and his 11 second lead wiped out.

Woke or not, this entire season has been decided by questionable calls from the Stewards and arbitrarily enforced time penalties and inconsistent rules enforcement.

This entire season has been filmed by Netflix for season four of the series Formula 1: Drive to Survive, abd this ending was literally made to order for the Netflix series.

You mean like when Verstappen overtook Hamilton early in the race and Hamilton managed to keep the lead by illegally cutting the corner, outside the track?

The stewards may have been trying to take back the advantage they gave Hamilton earlier when when Verstappen got inside his line to make a pass and Hamilton left the track and cut the turn to come out far ahead of Verstappen. Hamilton’s team claimed he slowed to give back the advantage he got by cutting the corner. I thank that was a bad call too.

Horses are more beautiful to watch than a bunch of ads with wheels going around a track. And horses don’t care about wokeness, even if their humans do.

I wonder what you have to say about when Verstappen overlook Hamilton earlier in the race and Hamilton retook the lead by illegally cutting the corner outside the tracks and the race officials let it stand?
Don't let me even start on the shambolic Saudi GP where Verstappen was repeatedly robbed.

I like Lewis is not going to the Awards event because Lewis is protesting how rules were applied at the final race. Oh, the rules require first, second and third place drivers to attend! So Lewis which rules do you like and follow vs those rules you do not like nor will follow? I mean if teams and drivers can just follow those rules they like at the moment and disregard those rules they don’t like, well that is an interesting way to run a sports league.

I also like how Bourdais complained about Perez holding up Lewis. Well Bourdais did you complain when Bottas wrecked both Redbulls in the Hungarian Grand Prix at the first corner. Perez was out of the Race and Max’s car was damaged. Gee Bottas wrecks both Redbulls at a track which Redbulls has an advantage. Nothing wrong with that one mmm Bourdais?

Still, there’s no getting around the fact Hamilton was robbed by a race director who went for a NASCAR finish in spite of the F1 rulebook.

After the same race director had robbed Verstappen of the lead when Verstappen earlier on overtook Hamilton and Hamilton retook the lead by illegally cutting the corner outside the tracks.

I remember when Senna Wrecked Prost in the last race of the year because it guaranteed him the championship. And they drove for the same team.

You propose a likely scenario but I think the last dash simply boiled down to tires - MV had fresh, sticky rubber, LH had worn, hard compound rubber. When the safety car left the track both drivers jumped on the gas and raced to the corner. LH was there first but his tires couldn’t hold the inside line. He drifted out a bit and was then passed by MV who drove impeccably to the finish line several seconds ahead of LH. ‘Twas exciting in any case.

As was the one race I attended in Austin TX at the Circuit of the Americas. MV won there also despite the Mercedes obvious power advantage. MV was a machine, hitting every corner perfectly. A tenth of a second here, a tenth of a second there, and soon MV gets the win.
