'Flash mob' robberies roiling U.S. retailers, traumatizing workers

California Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom said this week that shoplifters should be prosecuted and vowed to "significantly increase . . . efforts to go after these retail rings." He also said he would ramp up police presence along highways and retail corridors. And though the state typically classifies thefts under $950 as misdemeanors instead of felonies, Newsom urged local law enforcement officials to be more forceful in going after organized retail crime.

Maybe a FReeper lawyer can weigh in there if RICO can be applied. However, since devices which use the communications system are likely involved, perhaps Federal laws can be used to prosecute. But with Biden and his corrupt DOJ running things, good luck with that.

“I’m amazed the commie libs can’t figure out this 3rd grade problem.”

They don’t need to figure it out — they designed the situation and it’s working out as planned. Redistribution in action.

California is essentially a direct democracy. Any average Joe can put up a stupid law and the masses can vote on it. Not a good idea. Things like that needs to be voted on in the legislature. If we don't agree with the laws passed in the legislature, we vote out our Representatives, period.

No wonder California is drifting towards anarchy. They need to have a constitutional meeting and amend their Constitution and make it difficult for propositions to be added to the ballot. But they should keep the recall, I think every state should have that, it forces their elected officials, especially the Governor to be accountable to their voters.

They keep letting them out with no consequences. That means they’re going to keep doing it. Democrats are evil.

When did the law change?

According to what I have read it was Prop 47 in 2014 that reduced charges for many drug and theft offenses to misdeameanor and no longer felony.

gavin and his hate-America left wanted this. They want certain people to take whatever they want from their “oppressors.” It is 100% intended.

“Significantly increase effort.” Ten times zero effort is still zero.

I voted No on this stupid initiative that favors criminals.

How many people who vote in midterm elections are really paying attention?

Smash and grab is the game plan for the commie democrats whether it is literal destruction of property or govt official activities. They are destroying the whole American Republic in every way they can. Does not matter what will happen after the communists are thrown out, their destruction of the American way of life will take years to restore. The latest version is just more toying with the incredulity of what they can get by with and no consequences. Further, it is most likely that most of the stealing, smash and grab, is done to those who have cooperated and financed the administration that is now, by any measure, treasonously destroying this Republic. They will all lose eventually but that is not a comforting thought to the patriotic Americans who have to endure the wholesale destruction of our way of life.

As usual, the voters didn’t pay attention to the fine print. They got what they voted for.
