What in that sentence is stupid or divorced from reality? I for one would agree it would be better to prevent the virus from reaching this country than allowing it to arrive only to see what happens.
“Being cautious” is the foundation for all of the tyranny to which the world has been subjected for going on two years. “Being cautious” is nothing more than stoking irrational fear in idiots who willingly not only cede their freedom to tyrants, but insist that everyone else should do the same, to placate THEIR spineless, brainless, irrational fear. That’s why it is stupid to say that there’s no harm in being cautious. When the “caution” destroys more than it preserves, it is hardly noble, particularly when it is forced on unwilling people by lying TYRANTS.
Well, I would not call another Freeper stupid, but...
...that second statement is at a minimum separated from reality if not divorced.
It's not a scary NEW virus. Just another, and not the last, variant.
In either case, I disagree.
I'm not in favor of panic moves. According to gov't, nearly half the US has been infected already. Typically, vars become less dangerous and faster spreading. I'm OK with that.
I for one would agree it would be better to prevent the virus from reaching this country than allowing it to arrive only to see what happens.
Assuming that they are telling the truth, 0 chance of stopping it if it has escaped and it has. Viruses do what viruses do.
Instead of thinking like that crazy wench running/ruining NZ, may I suggest the Amish/Mennonites got it right. Natural herd immunity established. For them it is no longer a novel virus. Death rates mirrored the general population and they are not vaxing. Their immune systems recognize all 24 proteins of the virus, and not just 1. This variant is not a concern for them. For their community COVID has become the flu or a cold.
“Did the Amish really find a magic formula? They say yes. And they don’t care who doubts it.
Lapp: Yeah, all the Amish know we got herd immunity. Of course we got herd immunity! The whole church gets coronavirus. We know we got coronavirus. We think we’re smarter than everybody. We shouldn’t be bragging, but we think we did the right thing.”
