Chicago has 2.75 million people; Rochester has 211,000 people.
Sorry to say this city is like all other cities in the USA. Run by Democrats who don’t care about the people. Only POWER! I wanted to leave this area this year, but health issue arose. Preparing my home now to leave in 2022! Florida here I come!
BTTT
Rochester in the 1950s was a decent, if uninteresting city. What changed? (Rhetorical question)
“SO, why does the article call Rochester the murder capital if it is not per capita?”
Wait, are you looking for accuracy in reporting? Logic?
There is only propaganda...and when accuracy does occasionally occur, it is framed to support the propaganda message.
It is a blog not media...I will self correct.
Who knows what time frame he is talking about, and I will give him leeway with his title...I enjoyed two of his articles that I read.
I live in the southeast ‘burbs. Very nice. Burbs to the east, south and west also nice. City itself it the $hithole. Ten or 15 years ago Rochester mayor ran for county exec. (Roch within Monroe county). Is plan was to combine city with surrounding’ burbs as “metro government”
He lost 4-1
Ask the reporter why they can't seem to get their facts straight. (Lord knows they can NEVER get their facts straight.)
Here's a clue though: hyperbolic headlines ALWAYS get eyes.

“Born in Rochester c 1940. It went downhill in the 70’s. Had a great youth in a great school....Downtown, the Goodie Shop, the Palace Theatre, Ontario Beach, Sea Breeze and fishing in the Bay. Plenty to do.”

Don’t miss the place or the times one bit! I left out all the BAD memories.
I just looked it up, and you’re right. So it seems like you did more research on this topic than the author of the article did. This kinda reduces Lonsberry‘s credibility, IMO.
As Bob Hope says....Thanks for the Memories.
Those innocents who get killed do NOT get “protests” and rioting in the streets.
Happens all the time. Innocent little black children, shot in the crossfire - no rioting. (Not that I want riots, but you get the point.)
As an angry native, he’s probably just venting hyperbole.
All this proves is that so-called 'reporters' are lazy and they formulate their articles based on their own biases using hyperbolic headlines to get eyes.
The above description applies to at least 99.999% of the lying liberal lamestread media IMO, and has for the decades I've been paying attention to the lack of actual reporting of FACTS and calling the lying liberal lamestream media just that.
I'm also an old fart and learned long ago to never, ever trust the 'media' to tell the truth. They refuse to do it because they're all liberal/progressive propagandists pushing an agenda.
It's rare that a reporter actually simply reports the facts as known and leaves it up to us to discern the truth of the matter. (That statement is true of the left AND right leaning media.)
Um...why doesn’t the ranking seem to jibe with anything?
Rochester’s city center was frozen in time in about 1968, then taken over by bureaucratic welfare democrats. They proceeded to build welfare plantations (now refugee camps) on nearly all neighborhoods surrounding downtown.
Its one of the most depressing places in America.
Bolstered by author’s writing, which seems to escape him:
“And official Rochester seems fine with it. Inaction out of City Hall, big anti-cop wins on Election Day”
Acknowledges that ELECTIONS won this - yet calls it “official” as if only gov hacks condone it. Voters are not “official”, only the people THEY elected.
Needs to calm down a tad and edit, as the thought process here is not consistent.
But this is a constant issue we have to face - half our neighbors really ARE this vile, this evil in result if not manner. We need to put the blame where it is - “THE PEOPLE” - not just the overlords whom they vote in.
