The son and one-time heir apparent of late Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi announced Sunday his candidacy for the country's presidential election next month, Libya's election agency said.
Seif al-Islam, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court on charges of crimes against humanity related to the 2011 uprising, submitted his candidacy papers in the southern town of Sabha, 650 kilometers (400 miles) south of the capital of Tripoli, the High National Elections Commission said in a statement.

Gaddafi was murdered because he wanted a gold-backed currency and a United States of Africa.

He may have been overthrown for those reasons, but his squalid murder was at the hands of his own fellow Libyans. A violent, lawless people need a strongman, not some democratic, free elections pipedream. His son will need to made of pretty stern stuff. In any case, let’s hope he inherited his old man’s fashion sense.
Gadhafi did a complete turn around at a critical point in time. I hope his son will have the wisdom of his father.

Qaddafi intended to be Africa's banker and stabilize currency while avoiding Debt Slavery to the IMF.
It appeared he was long past doing stupid terrorist things and was well into stabilization and development of North Africa and the Middle East.
Interestingly, all of them were named "Hillary", not commonly found in Islamic societies.
He was specifically murdered by the international banking cartel and Obama/Clinton because he wanted to create an African gold-backed currency and an African Union of sorts. That angered the globalists, so he had to be removed.

Libyans were not lawless or violent under Gaddafi. Under Gaddafi, Libyans had a high literacy rate, and the money used from oil paid for citizens' education and other needs.
I'm not saying Gaddafi was a Saint, but he didn't deserve to die. Read about the true story of what happened on 09/11/2011.

I do remember some journalists/academics cautioning against taking him out long before it happened. Even Saddam was a stabling factor in Iraq. 911 was not very enlightening to our world view.

He was captured and killed by a local militia. There was a gunfight, a stabbing, his near-naked body was tossed onto a truck then fell off, etc. There was even a rumor that he had been anally raped with some sort of blade. The autopsy report was never released. Yes, Libya was relatively stable under Gaddafi — because he was a strongman and didn’t allow any of the sectarian violence that bubbles just under the surface of most majority Muslim nations. He was just what Libyans needed. Let’s hope his son can do the same.
