They’re home. Many have decided to retire and pursue whatever freebie they can get a hold of. Many, many younger people who are dissatisfied with anything but “a living wage.” Many sitting around doing drugs, or working under the table.
Meanwhile the rest of us who are left are busting our asses to the point of total exhaustion and burnout, at all levels.
I know someone who has done that for 35 years. SoCal. Doing better than ever. I think there are a lot more doing the same these days.

Add in a few million more of us who will not get the Vax! I have connected with a group of guys who are ready to retire or get fired by Clueless Joe after the January 5th Deadline.

I’ve been talking to a few people who have been looking for jobs everywhere and no one will call them back. I really don’t believe it is as dire as the media is making out.
Are they looking in red states?
I have a medical exemption. I suspect it won’t be honored indefinitely. I’ll retire if necessary or work until the feds can’t pay the bills anymore. I’m betting the dumbasses drive the country insolvent.

Where did they go? The population is aging so it’s likely that a large part of that figure is people who have retired. A fair number are likely working off the books or in the black market. Some are taking care of kids; note that they’re not considered unemployed, but are often on the dole. 7 million or so are unemployed. And there is a fair number who have either decided to retire early, or gone Galt.
That leaves a shrinking and exhausted workforce that is wondering why the hell they’re bothering.

Look at how many working age people weren’t working in 2019 pre-covid.
Look at how many working age people died from Covid.
Look at how many working age people are on disability compared to 2019.
There has been a substantial increase in disability. Some of that may be covid long haulers or disabilities caused by Covid. Some of those may be people who fear going back to work so have claimed a disability, similar to what we saw in 2008, during the financial crisis.
There may also be fewer jobs available than thought. There was a guy in Florida who applied to some of the employers who has been most vocal about there being a labor shortage and he couldn’t get call backs for jobs he was clearly qualified for.
What is being missed is the fact that there is NO labor shortage. Americans simply worked harder and longer than the rest of the world. We have had an over abundance of cheap labor for so long that corporations could expand at an almost limitless rate. Starbucks, Costco etc. could open a store at almost any decent location and never give the endless supply of cheap labor a second thought. Not any more. Our commie infested government has killed Americans ambition to be the most productive workers on the planet. Take the fun out of everything and its surprising how little money you actually need.
So to all the corporations that have supported leftist government, enjoy your closures it’s time to reap what you’ve sewn. We are done working your shitty jobs so you can make billions.
