I am sure there is lots of drone footage of Portland and even the Seattle ‘Summer of Love’ event

Yeah. I don’t understand the sensationalist headline here — well, except trying to attract clicks.
I would imagine that law enforcement at all levels routinely have drones or other reconnaissance over widespread unrest.
Hasn’t Red State ever seen helicopter footage taken over situations in progress?

Being Portland, I wonder how much would be the Feebs, and how much would be Oregon State Police. Anecdotally. I’ve heard about them patrolling an area where mushroom harvesting is regulated. I think they use it as practice for search and rescue, and searches for fugitives. There was a homeless vet that camped at a local lake that told me there was a drone they patrolled the area at night. The next day, police came in and located camps in the undergrowth with efficiency. This is some pretty formidable brush. .
I don’t think anyone should be surprised that LE makes extensive use of drones. One of the earliest stories I recall was of the Brits using drones that dropped small wireless microphones when they found groups of people at night on the streets.

(It was a bright cold day in April, and the clocks were striking thirteen. )
