Last night in the New Jersey Governor’s race Republican Jack Ciattarelli was leading current Democrat Governor Phil Murphy in the largest county in the state, Bergen County. Then suddenly things changed. Last night the governor’s race in New Jersey was showing the Republican challenger Jack Ciattarelli in the lead over the incumbent Democrat Phil Murphy. Then miraculously things changed.
With 83% of the votes counted in the state, Republican Ciattarelli held a statewide lead of 42,000 votes. At this time, Bergen County, the largest county in New Jersey, claimed 100% reporting with Ciattarelli winning 52% of the vote.
Then things changed. Minutes later, with 87% of the vote counted, the results in Bergen County changed and suddenly Murphy was reported ahead in the county with 51% of the vote. Ciattarelli’s 42,000 vote in the state also dwindled to a 1,600 vote lead at this time.

The AP vote totals for Bergen didn’t include the mail in vote.
I have one friend in California that, when they tried to vote in 2020 in person they were told they had already voted via mail in. Except they hadn’t.
with the mail in in that county, the D got over 30,000 votes and the R got 10,000.
If the software proprietary or can it be examined by independent examiners?
Proprietary software used in elections should be illegal.
Come on GOP. Get the ballot harvesters out and send in the lawyers. Pull out the suitcases of ballots.
Vote counting stopped!
A mistake by a poll worker led machines in 56 voting districts in Essex County, the state’s second-most populated region, to be turned off before their ballots were tallied, local election officials said.

Didn’t this also happen in 2020?
Sudden unexplained changes in vote totals?
So R won 11,142 votes
D won 32,602 votes
a total of 43,744,
which upped grand total
by only 41, 544.
Who got the phantom 2200 votes?
Here is a link explaining the New Jersey votes including several country vote analyses including Bergen Country where I was born and lived my first 16 years.
“What’s happening in Bergen County?
In Bergen County, voters kept calling to ask for results right away, so officials rushed to post what they had in two separate files — Election Day results and early voting in one file, and mail-in ballots in another, said Deputy County Clerk Steve Chong. “We have three different agencies with three different duties, so we don’t have a unified file, but we’re working on it,” Chong said.

The Election Day results take time, Chong said, because each of Bergen’s 70 municipalities has to deliver a cartridge to the clerk’s office to be read in a machine and converted to a tally. It took until 11:30 p.m. to collect the last cartridge from Teaneck, Chong said. And once the Board of Elections finishes the vote-by-mail numbers, officials turn to provisional ballots that are counted last. As a protective measure, vote-by-mail ballots can’t legally be counted until Election Day. Ballots postmarked on Nov. 2 that arrive by Nov. 8 will be counted.”
“If boards of election leave one type of ballot to be counted later, it can “wholesale shift a result,” Murray said, because mail-in ballots tend to trend heavily Democratic, in-person is slightly more Democratic than the state average, and Election Day turnout leans more Republican. These trends explain why Gov. Phil Murphy inched forward Wednesday morning as more Democratic mail-in ballots were added to his total.”
From the above you can see why mail-in ballots could shift the vote. The fact that the County officials have received 100% of the day’s voting records from each town, but only thus far have counted (statewide 83%) means that adding the mail-in ballots last can significantly shift a vote toward Democrat. Another possible factor. Bergan Country is right next to the Hudson River and a lot of people go to NYC daily to work and listen to NY Radio and TV. Trump got only 30% of the New York vote, and north Jersey might think somewhat similarly about Trump. Can’t wait to see the final vote. Read the whole link. Votes mailed in on 11/2 will count if received by 11/8.
Great post. Part of what is driving the conspiracies (apart from the Grifter Pundit parade of absurdities) is that the unofficial vote counts from the media are not locking down how much vote is actually remaining. It’s the early vote and mail in vote that is causing this to some extent.
In the past the % of remaining always referred to precincts. Absentee vote by mail was always low and only became an issue in very very close races (like Florida 2000).
Now there is a mix of mail, in person early vote and Election Day vote and the media isn’t even trying to report it accurately.
Florida DID keep track of all of this and the Florida 2020 election was one of the best run and secure elections that one could have. We should emulate what was done there around the country.
