Matt Gaetz last week on House floor — Someone is trying to kill me
A different man who made different death threats was arrested 36 hours later

Eugene Huelsman left death threats in phone messages for Matt Gaetz.
“Tell Matt Gaetz to watch his back, tell him to watch his children. I’m coming for him… I’m gonna f—ing kill him… I’m gonna put a bullet in you and I’m gonna put a bullet in one of your f—ing kids too.”
The arrest came within two days of Gaetz taking to the House floor last week to complain that the Justice Department wasn’t being aggressive enough in dealing with threats against him.
“I think someone may be trying to kill me and if they are successful I would like my constituents and my family to know who stopped their arrest,” Gaetz said last Wednesday. The congressman went on to say that someone who threatened him on Twitter traveled to Washington D.C. in recent days and that the Justice Department declined to arrest the suspect despite the Capitol Police recommending such an arrest.
Gaetz told POLITICO Tuesday that he believes his comments prompted the arrest, but that the case he described on the House floor is not the same man as was arrested in Los Angeles.
“An indictment was issued in May, and has now been unsealed the week after my criticism,” the GOP lawmaker said. “If they took our security seriously, they would arrest all of the people who violate federal law and the threats to kill us, not just some of them… I think that the Department of Justice is biased against Republicans.”
At a court hearing in Los Angeles Friday, Huelsman was released by a federal magistrate judge on a $20,000 bond, a spokesperson for the U.S. Attorney’s Office there said.
A representative of the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida confirmed the indictment and arrest. Huelsman is scheduled to appear before a magistrate judge in Pensacola on Friday, according to court records.
Eugene Huelsman has worked for decades on film and television productions, garnering five Emmy nominations for his work on NBC’s “Late Night with Conan O’Brien.”
And yet we still have political prisoners who have not been charged with anything since Jan 6 held in a D.C. jail.
Waddya bet this goes away like a fart in the wind or he flees.
Appalling. For a terroristic threat.
And we know this case will end up in the circular file for "lack of evidence."
Six months and the DOJ do nothing? How many 1/6ers got SWAT raids in that time? Clearly, the DOJ is morbidly corrupt.
just wow! It's not a good situation for conservative politicians when they have to rely on a highly politicized, corrupt, and inept department of justice for protection.
He also did work for ABC and CNN.
FBI personnel are too busy sitting out in the parking lots at school board meetings. How could they possibly spare time to investigate threats to kill children?
This will get swept under the rung by the legacy media. But let one parent raise his voice at a school board meeting and it’s national news.
I guess “killing them with comedy” wasn’t working for Huelsman.
This is what happens when you don’t have an opposition party. If the DOJ feared a proctological Congressional oversight examination and budget cuts they would not be so nakedly partisan.
Dem will get away with a slap on the hand...
