Ask yourself first, who is Jesus? Jesus explained the answer to His disciples in JOhn 14:7 ... when you 'see' Jesus you have seen The Father Almighty, in your spacetime as Jesus. ONLY God could pay the penalty price for your sin.
If I had not sinned, nor you, nor anyone, INCLUDING Adam and Eve, Jesus would not have chosen to die on the cross.
Because of His love for us, He could do nothing BUT die on a cross as a sacrifice for OUR sins. He could have chosen NOT to sacrifice Himself for us, but then He would not be God. Therefore, I put Him on that the cross because of MY disobedience.
