Judiciary Committee ranking member laid out in detail the different ways numerous media outlets mischaracterized the Republican report released by the judiciary committee.
Iowa Sen. Chuck Grassley blasted the media Tuesday for its "complete misrepresentation" of the Senate Judiciary Committee's report on former President Donald Trump's alleged efforts to overturn the 2020 presidential election.
In a speech on the Senate floor, the ranking member of the committee laid out in detail the different ways numerous media outlets mischaracterized the Republican report.
Grassley noted during his speech that the media focused almost entirely on the findings in the interim Democratic report, despite the GOP reaching very different conclusions in its report.
Grassley addressed recent claims derived from the Democratic report that Trump pressured Justice Department officials to overturn the election.
The GOP report counters that numerous DOJ officials testified that the former president did not pressure officials to overturn the results, rather he directed them to focus on election integrity issues.
"Witnesses testified that President Trump's main focus was on making the Justice Department aware of the potential criminal allegations, and to ensure the Department did its job," Grassley said on the Senate floor. "It wasn't to direct or order specific investigative steps."
The Iowa Senator goes on to give other examples of contrary conclusions found within the respective reports, as well as calling out specific news outlets for attacking the veracity of the GOP report.
"The media's attack against the Republican Trump report is essentially an attack on witness testimony received by the committee," Grassley said. "Time and again, many in the media have failed to meet the facts head-on in order to fit their own biased storyline."
"So much for investigative journalism. It died without so much as a whimper," he concluded.

Misrepresentation is what the Ministry of Propaganda does.
Old man’s showboating. Guess this means he’s running again.
As meaningful as a stern letter to the Times.
I’m sure CBS will cover this. Maybe even on 60 minutes.
Grassley should be talking about suspending the FCC licenses of the Fake Newsers. They’ve earned it in spades with their Fake News.
Grassley is facing a primary challenger. He’s trying to sound tough again.
Did he actually expect fair and balanced?
