Interesting. This thought crossed my mind recently. If people think inflation is going to get a lot worse, it makes economic sense to hoard now.

This is the death spiral of inflation. That is why inflation is so dangerous. Spending which would normally be deferred, isn't deferred. This causes too many dollars to go chasing fewer available goods.

Inflation is Biden's most shameful achievement. We had a smooth nice economy under President Trump. Biden has destroyed it.

Actually, people thinking inflation will get worse is a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Freezer is full. Food shelves are full and now we’re keeping stuff in boxes on the floor. Moved to small acreage ten years ago and have meat goats and a place to garden. Got plenty of heritage veggie seeds and am hoping to buy some fruit trees/bushes in the Spring. Bought a 30mpg car last Spring after the braindead one coronation.

I knew what another obama term would look like. Became a prepper back in 2008/9.

Just in Walmart, no carts to ship with which was fine bc they didn’t have half what I was looking for, rest of shelves were bare looking. Local grocery seems fine though

Well, it makes sense to stock up a bit yes. But hoarding is likely to be counterproductive. There are people out there who still have their lifetime supply of toilet paper from a year and a half ago. Lots of money tied up in nothing. Meanwhile, stores I go to have whole aisles for toilet tissue, paper towels, etc, stacked to the ceiling. Likewise with beef, chicken, whatever other “scarce” goods I should jam my freezer with.
