I’d ask them for the ‘guidelines’ so you could make sure you conform to them, and resubmit. If you are going to be rejected after review, the reviewers should be able to say why, at least in general.
Thank you. My suspicion is there is some unspoken psychological tone “real” mathematicians use, and my writing comes off amateurish.
But I will try to chase down the journal and see if it will give any input. It is difficult to find who to email as submissions are by form, and replies come from a send email that doesn’t accept replies.
