I drove a friend's 300 on a long car pool for three years, but that was a 2011 with the base engine. Adequate.

I owned a '92 Grand Marquis that had engine problems etc from the get go, and finally burned up.

I found the Chrysler less comfortable than the Merc. The 300 took way to much room for the $#^@ center console. I've owned many Chrysler's, and at some point they got really uncomfortable. I rented a Sebring, a Laser and an Avenger. All pretty awful. Oddly, I found the original Viper to be snug but comfortable. The last Chrysler driver I found comfortable was mid-sized M-Body masquerading as a luxury car, the RWD 1989 Chrysler Fifth Avenue, the last V-8 car Chrysler had made for over a decade (318). That model was a barely updated '79 Dodge Diplomat with plusher seats.

The Avalon lacks headroom and trunk, but the 3.5 is more than peppy enough, and Toyota is not as aggressive about adding electronics as some car companies are.

I’ve given up on standard 4 door sedans. I find even the Grand Marquis and Chrysler 300 are too small. I hate how low they are. Climbing up and out of a traditional car is a pain.

I had a Toyota Venza for 8 years. Loved it. Now driving a VW Tiguan. Mid sized SUV crossovers have taken the place of the 4 door family car.
