Ok. This was the result of a large earthquake quite close to the disaster area. Anything from much much farther away?

Tidal waves hit Japan every 2-300 hundred years from subduction zone earthquakes along the west coast. Last one was 1700.

Displacement waves will travel across the world until they hit another shore. Same thing happened in Chile in 1960. Tidal waves hit Hawaii.
