Agree.
Many thanks from here as well.

Such a shame all the “wise men” either did not make
future generations, or, they became depleted in the ‘wise’
category before the attempt might be made.

You bet. Cato’s Letters were newspaper articles about the South Sea bubble and government corruption. Published for a few years in London, they had to be witty and entertaining. They had more long lasting effect on our side of the Atlantic and were republished in the colonies well into the 1750s.
