I do recall that the Commander of the 5th Special Forces Group was placed into Pre Trial confinement in the LBJ (Long Binh Jail) on charges of war crimes related to the Project Phoenix which killed key leadership of the Viet Cong in South Vietnam. This was done because of the political issues.
Putting commissioned officers and senior non commissioned officers into pre trial confinement is extremely rare. When that occurs, you can be sure that it is a political issue.
Heard this today and was just stunned.

It is heartbreaking and infuriating that this superb, noble Marine who was on a fast track to the top ranks, loyal to his country, to the American people and its ideals, and to his fellow marine, has been locked up in solitary, so fearful are the high up of the military of the articulation of the mega tragedy and permanent danger to the free world they created. There was and remains no accountability for this colossal tragedy and the permanent dangers created for the world. His mother asked that people should know there is a way to help him and his family.
