Does she ever mention secession? Because people that is the only escape avenue left.
Agreed. Been calling for it for 16 years.
“Does she ever mention secession?”
Yes.
“Because people that is the only escape avenue left.”
No, it isn’t. There is another very viable route, and that is Article V, which she also mentions, and wisely promotes.
Secession, although State internals may remain largely unchanged, eviscerates the Republic in a way that is nearly impossible to restore.
An Article V Convention of States could accomplish all the necessary restorative goals that might drive States to secession WITHOUT shredding the union. In this way, States should keep secession as an ACE in their hip pocket, but GREATLY favor a successful Article V CoS as The VASTLY Preferred remedy.
And I defer to Mark Levin whom I esteem highly as a scholar, and thoughtful Constitutional mind, published “The Liberty Amendments” in which he presented a substantive list of actions that would be prime agenda items for a CoS; Repeal of the 17th Amendment, for example; clarification of the Interstate Commerce Clause in a way that nullifies the horrible USSC decision in Wickhard v Filburn; get the book.
The bottom line is that we have THREE options, but they are not equal options.
An Article V Convention of States is our LAST, BEST hope to restore LIMITED Constitutional government at the Federal level, and would result in the LEAST disruption to the entire nation.
FAILING that, secession on a state-by-state basis would be the next least disruptive. The union would fragment, but affairs internal to each State — granting mutual peace on all borders — would continue mostly uninterrupted.
FAILING THAT, we come to force of arms; the VERY LAST hope, the VERY LEAST preferred, and the VERY MOST destructive option. NO SANE MAN — least of all those who have tasted the bitter Hell of actual armed combat — seeks this. Oh, there’s TONS of bravado out there... and it’ll last about as long as it typically does when there’s live fire incoming. So let’s just get rid of it, now; count it as the ZERO it is, and treat this topic with all due sobriety.
