Another Red State writer, Jeff Charles comments:
At least earlier in the process, polls were showing that the movement to remove Newsom had gained quite a bit of steam. The petition to push for a recall vote gathered a record number of signatures. Even though it was always a long shot, there were indications that it could possibly succeed. The fact that it also attracted Democrats is also an indication that, if effectively organized, conservative-leaning voters in California can make a difference.
The “abandon ship” mentality has cost the Republican Party dearly in the past. Those banging the drum of surrender sound much like Barry Goldwater did back in the 1960s when he said the GOP should no longer try to reach black voters and “go hunting where the ducks are.” He effectively stuck a dagger in the heart of Republican outreach to the black community by arguing that the party could not win a significant number of black voters.
We cannot afford to allow the same mistake to be made when it comes to California and other supposedly “unwinnable” areas. The issue isn’t the reality that the left has a stranglehold on these areas that is impossible to break. The issue is that the Republican Party has been feckless. It has chosen to avoid making concerted efforts in areas that are “too hard” to campaign in.
This isn’t to say that there are not many conservative individuals who are willing to fight. There were thousands of people involved in the recall effort. But overall, the GOP’s leadership has not bothered to pour resources into turning blue areas purple or red.
Indeed, the Democrats sent Vice President Kamala Harris and other high-profile Democratic politicians to come out in support of Newsom.
Who did Republicans send?
Exactly my point.
1. Election fraud
2. Election fraud
3. Election fraud
4. Election fraud
5. Election fraud
And expect the same nationwide in 2022 and 2024 because NOTHING is being done about election integrity
The GOP didn’t even endorse Elder. But they want us to step up to the roulette wheel again. Isn’t the GOP doing a grand job of fighting for us right now?
You are correct.
California numbers at ~63-37 are becoming too routine.
The election happened. Same ratio as all the recent elections but at only 70% in.
All day today there has been almost zero increase in the vote totals all day at the SoS site.
All day only 40,000 votes for recall and 47,000 against have been reported.
How can the count be so slow?
And how is the 2:1 ratio so deviated from in these ~90k votes tallied today?
For the sake of discussion, let's assume the Georgia Senate races weren't rigged.
I recall many, many, MANY people in Georgia on FR basically saying after Bidet won*, that they weren't voting in the runoff.
And now, the Legislative destruction of America turns on Manchin and Sienna.
If two Rs had won - or even one - it could be different.
Now, I'm not saying there isn't reason to be disgusted, disillusioned, or disheartened.
But maybe, just maybe, if Rs came out of the woodwork in California by the bushel, it could have been different.
Fraud is as old as the apple and the serpent. What better way for the leftists to win, than for normal Americans to simply give up?
Even before the recall qualified for the ballot, a significant number of conservatives said Newsom would never be recalled because “the system” wouldn’t allow it. Most even doubted that “the system” would allow the recall to be qualified, believing the Secretary of State would find a way to disqualify so many signatures that it could be claimed that the petitioners didn’t present enough valid signatures. Once the election date was set, the refrain changed – now the “smart” people “knew” that no fair election could ever be held in California, and even before election day the blue check brigade was claiming defeat. How many people stayed home because of that? We don’t have the answer yet, so this one is obviously speculative on my part, but I hope the surveys of those who didn’t vote will be done and we can find out why.
Yup, including the Despair Trolls and defeatists here in FR. I hope you’re happy.

Election/vote fraud.
Yep, it’s like they don’t even exist. The only one opening his mouth seems to be Rand Paul, but other than that, it’s the phantom party. Right now we have hands down the worst POTUS in US history in office, even democrats in secret would say that. Then we have blatant hardcore treason, arming terrorists, deliberately opening the border, and all we get is Mitch McConnell saying they aren’t going to impeach Biden. Well gee Mitch, you could have surprised me! Glad you thought telling us that was a priority. I don’t know, maybe if Biden makes a phone call to the Ukranian President Mitch will change his mind

5. Read that the vote only garnered 3 million total. I’m thinking that many thought it was a lost cause anyway and stayed home. At this point, California is a done deal so I can understand why folks would stay home.
6. Income redistribution. California was in dire straits financially before Aunt Pelosi directed billions of 49 state money to Newsome to distribute to his constituents. They’ll go broke again, then watch as the Dems try to keep every special interest group with their collective hands out happy as the tax base leaves the state.
One huge reason: the GOP did not endorse any candidate. You can’t win if you don’t commit to a winner.
I made similar points here last week.
There was a lack of focus: the lockdowns destroyed massive numbers of businesses. A lot have not come back.
Getting other interest groups on board is good politics, but the big deal was his ham handed, hypocritical, and likely unconstitutional closures of just about everything.
Of course Reed Hastings gave him $3 million. The more people stuck at home, the more bored prisoners of Governor Lockdown watching Netflix drivel. Nothing else to do.
The recall organization had an inchoate message. They needed to hammer on one thing. Elder became the focus, and he doesnt have the organization Newsom has.
The Republicans had a moment here, didnt follow through.
What if the ballot had contained only that one question, recall or not?
I have to agree with 3 items in this list. They are out of order. Number one is 100 million dollars. Money talks. Number 2 is the first question thing. Number 3, when Elder became the front runner the question of recall was overshadowed by who the replacement would be. To some people it was much better to keep Newsom than to risk some Republican messing up the gravy train.
Elder got sideswiped by gender identity questions and other issues. He should have answered with some platitudes about caring and then circled back to masks stay at home orders social distancing and keeping kids home from school.
The only difference between the GOP and the DNC is the lies they tell when the camera is on them.
Otherwise, behind closed doors, it’s all Uniparty.
As for voter contacts I am a reliable Republican voter and I received several texts, emails and mailers. So I think the state GOP made serious effort.
