We were told to put L-lysine powder in our cats’ food. I don’t know if it’s the same thing as what’s mentioned here. I think it’s supposed to help their immune system, and generally make them healthier.

They wouldn’t eat it, so I still have a couple jars in my cupboard.

That study involves a nutrient mixture (NM) that contains lysine - but also contains Vitamin C, green tea extract and NAC (and other substances), all of which have (in other articles posted here on FR and elsewhere on the internet) been shown to be somewhat effective in helping the body to fight off ALL viruses. So, while I don’t doubt the effectiveness of Lysine (and will likely order some), it isn’t just the Lysine that’s effective. Other nutrients are needed.

From the link you provided:

“A unique nutrient mixture (NM), containing lysine, proline, ascorbic acid, green tea extract, N-acetyl cysteine and selenium among other micro nutrients, has been shown to exert a wide range of biochemical and pharmacological effects....”

The only problem with consuming those high-Lysine foods is that they are likely to also contain a lot of L-Argenine, which for these purpose (fighting a virus) counter-acts or reduces the effectiveness of the L-Lysine itself. Better (again, for these purposes) to just take the L-Lysine by itself in either powder or pill/capsule form - at a time well removed from any consumption of high-protein foods that may contain L-Argenine.

I was excited to send this link to my daughter, but then I noticed that at the bottom of the map they state that the inclusion of a church on the map is not an endorsement by 9Marks. :(

Certainly not, but I have never found a church that didn’t hold to the 9Marks principles......I even found a church in Belfast, Ireland for a person who was searching.

Ultimately, it is up to the individual to learn the biblical standards for a good church, then seek them out. They are in the minority for sure.

I’m trying to find the actual article, but all I see is articles from 2020. The most likely one is from Sept 2020 https://www.researchgate.net/publication/344210822_Lysine_Therapy_for_SARS-CoV-2
Unfortunately it’s not done as a randomized study, so I’d be cautious interpreting the results. The authors do say “Lysine is a treatment, not a cure” and “Obviously more studies, including randomized controlled trials, are required for full clinical understanding” and “ It might be that the combination of suppressive lysine and vaccination is superior to either alone.”

All of this is to say the headline is deceptive, and while promising, further study is needed.

Section C (Criteria for issuance of authorization) (3)that there is no adequate, approved, and available alternative to the product for diagnosing, preventing, or treating such disease or condition;

Wow. This explains it all. I knew it was happening, I just didn't know the legal aspect behind it.
