....The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone and online survey finds that 30% of American Adults correctly estimate the rate as being less than 2%, while 20% believe the rate to be between 2% and 5%. Seventeen percent (17%) estimate the mortality rate to be in the 5%-10% range and 19% believe the rate is more than 10%. Another 14% say they’re not sure. More viewers of Newsmax (40%) and Fox News (34%) correctly estimated the COVID-19 mortality rate than viewers of CNN (22%) or MSNBC (24%). Twenty-one percent (21%) of One America News (OAN) viewers correctly estimated the coronavirus mortality rate. Among Americans who say they don’t watch cable news at all, 38% correctly estimated the mortality rate as less than 2%.
Thirty-seven percent (37%) of American Adults believe public health officials are lying about the safety of COVID-19 vaccines. That’s up from 32% in early July. Forty-four percent (44%) now don’t believe officials are lying about vaccine safety, but 19% are not sure....

How ever they do seem really really susceptible to propaganda.
Democrats are much more likely to watch either local or national “news” which has been 24/7 “get vaxxed now” “keep us safe” “safe and effective” propaganda.
If you talk to them at all on the subject you just get upchucked mass media talking points.
I just learned from my dim dem relatives today, who are vaxxed, of course, that their friend, who is vaxxed and who has cancer and is going to get a bone marrow transplant soon, went to a big concert recently and is now in the hospital with Covid.
What the hell?
There have been times due to a condition I had that I was scheduled for surgery. About a week before I was to have it, I would limit myself to only going to work, having done all my grocery shopping ahead of time, except for maybe buying fresh milk.
And even at work I was careful to do the whole six feet apart thing before it was fashionable.
I did this because I did not want to get a cold, a mere cold, that would cause them to reschedule the surgery because it was just inconvenient for all concerned if that were to happen.
The way these people think is all screwed up.
I have discovered that liberals do whatever the TV tells them to do. It is true.
I was in a restaurant recently where a tv was on a sports cannel, and I spotted a commercial where it seemed the VIP scum bags of Clintons,Obama’s,Bushes. I think the Carter’s.. can’t remember anyone else.

Interesting post—there is a reason why the TV news/PSA viewers are so overconfident—the messaging is not nuanced at all.
The vaxxes are presented as if they will make you immortal if you take them, and you will die if you don’t.
Either you believe all the messaging or none of it—there is not a lot of middle ground.

And what is the rate of death from Covid if one considers only those people who died at a younger age than the average age of death prior to Covid?
Not even close to 1.6%. But I bet tv news doesn’t point this out.
