i heard the biden admin stopped the import of Russian ammo which accounts for 40% of the ammo sold in the US

sounds like a great business opportunity for a US based ammo manufacturer

thoughts?

They halted issue of new import licensing, the current ones are still good to go for another 2 years for current contracts.

Domestic production is already running at max capacity.

Everybody keeps repeating "40% of the ammunition sold in the US" but that sounds suspect to me. I've no doubt it is a significant percentage and easily half (or more) of certain specific calibers, but over a third of ALL ammo sold in the US? Is there a definitive source for that, not just everyone repeating what they've heard?
