I don’t own an AR or AK. I do reload quite a number of caliber’s of rifles, but only 38/357 in pistol cartridges.
I lean hard on the caliber’s that can be reloaded cheaply.
When Obozo was in office I made a major effort to be able to reload everything my family shoots. Pretty well accomplished that. Over time I filled in the gaps of the hard to find components.
Years ago if a hunter had a couple of boxes of ammo he was in good shape. Not the case now.
I do not buy ammo in bulk, but have enough brass, bullets and bullet molds to keep me for a long time.
My dad taught me to hunt and fish. He taught me to reload cartridges. He taught me to work and to be truthful. All of that is unusual today, but not so much around where I live.
He taught me to be candid and honest related to business dealings. He also taught me to question people who want to dictate to me without my consent. I will never recover from that imprinting.
Our family has owned/operated farms in this county since 1889. Before that in Coryell County near Gatesville.
I am 73 and god has blessed me my entire life. I’ve know some tough times but most of it has been great.
My father died in March at 95. He was a WWII vet, was an armorer part of the war. He worked on Quad 50’s and Bofors.
He worked for himself his entire life. He left big footprints to fill.

My Dad died at 96 in 2018, and he was similar to yours. He was a WWII hero thru 4 campaigns in Europe, and in the Battle of The Bulge, as a Sgt Combat Engineer, with Patton, after he landed on D-Day. He was wounded by a nazi sniper in the Ardennes and made it back home to recuperate, with many medals. He worked with me thru to Eagle Scout, and left an indelible impression that only a Loving Father could.
