If schools are going to make kids stay masked all day they might as well complete the rest of the costume.

They have got a college in the state of Kentucky called the University of Kentucky Wildcats. For football and basketball games I can see the college kids doing dress cat. For high school maybe once a year for Halloween. Other days, some sort of behavior/dress code might be appropriate.

How very refreshing! I can remember students rolling their cigs up in the sleeve of their T-shirt, the females wearing combat boots and ... well, some things ‘they did’ should remain in the past. I was a teacher when the hippies’ children sprawled onto the school scenes. How refreshing to have a cats movement. ... Great Broadway pay, BTW.

Are they mocking the adults? Given what the teachers unions, administrators, and school boards are doing with oppressors/oppressed and masks, they deserve to be mocked.I’m with you! What’s the problem, principal? I’m wearing a mask aren’t? Complete with personal protective equipment!

We have relatives in Kentucky.
We were invited to one of the nieces high school graduation. It was a large high school that covered a full county in central Kentucky.
The graduation took place in a large (and full) gymnasium--thousands of people there.
They announced that it was time for the valedictorian to speak. The teacher's introduction said that the valedictorian had written some very inspiring and original words--and everyone should pay close attention.
The valedictorian's speech began.....
and it was stolen, word for word, Joe Biden style....It was Rudyard Kipling's famous poem "If". She read the entire poem.
I knew.
My wife knew.
Several other family members knew.
There was a little bzzz bzzz bzzz in the audience but--we couldn't tell how many other folks in the audience knew...maybe 5%, 10%, 20%, hard to tell...
The important takeaway was this--The _teachers_ did not know.
I am still in shock--many years later.
The point--Home school your kids!

Maybe they do have a mouse problem. Maybe the kids think their teachers and administrators are meek little mice.
I’m holding out hope this cat costume thing is some sort of stroke of genus, pun intended, on the part of the students.
