Canning lids made by Kerr or Ball are selling for close to a dollar EACH on secondary markets. Stores don’t have them in stock. Yes, I realize it’s summer in the US, but this has been going on for quite a while. I did see some “Pur” brand lids in Menards. Not sure if they’re any good.
Pur brand works fine. My usual place tells me that they've had a lot of trouble getting canning jars and lids. Fortunately they've had more recently and I got some extras. I suspect it's both supply and demand related. More people stocking up during summer.
Been waiting for a large order from Lehmans, Kidron,OH since last year. Even tried to order the reusable lids. Those too are on back order.
Back in the day, we used to put up large quanties (300+ quarts of white half runner green beans).
