And now I have more questions for car dealers because I won't buy a new car, and Gid knows we're trying, with these in it.
And is anyone else wondering if this deal is the real reason for our alleged chip/car shortage...
It also cost more than my 2012 Toyota pickup
“As a result, many are having a much harder time buying the food that they need and more people are going hungry. Needless to say, this is setting the stage for the sort of global crisis that I have been warning about.”
Not having any supply problems where I live (SW corner of Wisconsin), but I still keep a sharp eye.
That said, I have a problem with the above sentence. I have many friends across the USA that volunteer at local Food Pantries. Not a ONE is ever short of food, and many times in other forums, the gals are looking for ideas as to how to ‘help’ their ‘clients’ use various items because said ‘clients’ DON’T KNOW HOW TO COOK!
My local Food Pantry (for a population of about 4K) is attached to our Thrift Store. The food pantry has SO MUCH FOOD that they stack coolers and shelving in the entrance hall of the Thrift Store in hopes that Thrift Store Shoppers will help themselves! Last week it was a cooler of gallons of milk, blocks of Free Government Cheese, Zucchinis (LOL!) and Cheese Curds. There are always a few shelves of pastries and loaves of artisan breads, baby formula, rice, beans, bagged apples, etc. (I will take the worst of the worst-for-you white bread for feeding the birds.)
I just can’t seem to reconcile how much EXTRA food there is out there to GIVE AWAY when everyone is talking about shortages in their grocery stores.
I’ll let you know if this practice changes in the near future. It just seems like SUCH a disconnect to me.
Been waiting for a large order from Lehmans, Kidron,OH since last year. Even tried to order the reusable lids. Those too are on back order.
Back in the day, we used to put up large quanties (300+ quarts of white half runner green beans).
Same in Eastern Nevada. Three-foot gaps in shelving that contained everyday items, like pork and beans. Half my online orders for similar items are first "Out of stock. Temporarily delayed", then cancelled.
Of those that go through and are to be delivered, FedEx ships them to a different city - "Delivered to doorstep. No signature required." What are the odds of ever seeing that order again?
The starvation component of depopulation will be kicking in.
Thanks for the info on lumber and construction materials. We are stuck waiting until spring at least, due to backlog of everything from architect services to construction materials. It’s in a climate where it’s too late to do anything like this prior to winter shutdown. The roof needs major work. It’s being patched/tarped to get through the winter but come spring it needs to be scheduled for replacement if we don’t do the addition and include a new roof then. We’ll see how the finances look after another season of this crap.
