those at the helm do not seem to know what they are doing.

Do not seem to know? When has anyone on the Left truly known what they were doing beyond seizing as much control over their populations as possible and enriching themselves while everyone else scratches out a subsistence living? When has the Left ever seized control by means other than lies, chaos, theft, murder and, when necessary to their purposes, genocide?

We are considering building an addition next year. We spoke with a builder yesterday who said the availability and cost of materials is driving him batty. He was able to secure lumber in a nearby yard, but the price quote is only good for 2 days due to instability in supply chains. We waited a week for a fiber optic installation because the equipment was delayed. Store shelves are looking thin. My mother lived through WWII in Europe. When I mentioned the price of gas, she reminded me that at least we’re still permitted to buy it. Sobering developments. I’m very conscious that it may become difficult to drive out to see my elderly mother or our son, who both live several states away.

"Canning lids made by Kerr or Ball are selling for close to a dollar EACH on secondary markets. Stores don’t have them in stock. Yes, I realize it’s summer in the US, but this has been going on for quite a while. I did see some “Pur” brand lids in Menards. Not sure if they’re any good"

Pur brand works fine. My usual place tells me that they've had a lot of trouble getting canning jars and lids. Fortunately they've had more recently and I got some extras. I suspect it's both supply and demand related. More people stocking up during summer.

I have been waiting on parts for a Stihl chainsaw and an Echo string trimmer for 3 months.

Stihl chainsaw, trimmers and other small equipment are mostly out of stock at their dealers. Only the bigger volume dealers are getting supplied. The smaller volume dealers are SOL.

The local Massey Ferguson tractor dealer has about two tractors on the lot. I assume this may have to do with the worldwide chip shortage to.

That’s why the “show your faith in humanity and the US economy by GOING OUT for dinner/to shows/etc” ethos kinda died: The quality of everything that’s available is going down while prices skyrocket. (Now business is dead, too, so at least we don’t have that distraction anymore.)

I would advise waiting for the price of lumber to come down more. In the wholesale market we went from all time record highs in May to the lows of the last eighteen months as of right now. Prices have dropped so far because of over supply that several BC mills have announced production curtailments in the last few weeks. Canfor announced last night they were cutting BC production by 20%. Canfor is the largest producer of softwood lumber in North America.

The prices at your local retailer will eventually come down to reflect the adjustments in the wholesale market.

What you should order as far as possible in advance is doors. Some exterior doors are 6 months behind. Windows are taking about 3-4 months depending on manufacturer.

There are continued shortages of electrical panels, appliances and various steel products.

Our big Stihl dealer and shop closed where I live. Gracery stores still seem pretty well stocked but the prices are going up, up, up.

I bought canning lids last year while I could still find them. Haven't even seen any this year.

My personal grocery spending has increased by 20%.

Been following this for a while. Early June I ordered a Grizzly lathe, delivery now estimated end of Sept. Late June ordered mini-split heat pump...hopefully get in next couple of weeks. July 4th sale ordered 2 Lazyboys...delivery end of October supposedly...wasn’t told about delay when I placed order.

… she reminded me that at least we’re still permitted to buy it.

In a supply/demand based economy you should always be able to “buy it” so long as no artificial barriers are imposed. Nothing creates shortages (and black markets) faster than price controls and government rationing!

My dad and uncle have at times a dozen MF vintage rebuilt all sizes around. I’d run them anytime and anyplace.

No chips.

Another uncle who died earlier this year had a 165 that he barely used from what I saw. I don’t know what became of it. My aunt hasn’t mentioned the tractor or anything.

A couple weeks ago I was running errands and the power steering on my truck went completely out. I managed to drive to the dealership. It was Monday around noon. I figured they would diagnose on Tuesday, order part overnight, have me back up by Wednesday, Thursday at the latest. Due to I assume a manpower shortage they didn’t even look at the truck till Thursday, and it would take 3 business days to get part. I did not get my truck until the following Friday, basically two weeks. I even called another dealership and was told I would just be starting from scratch as it would take them 3 days to even look at it. I can’t put a finger on what the problem is, but things are definitely changing and not for the better.

I was referring to their compact tractors that are built in Japan. The ones in the 24-65 HP range.

I have a MF1735 = 36 hp turbo diesel cab tractor.

They never used ones like that.

The largest I remember seeing were 1100 series.

My tractor has AC/heat/blue tooth stereo/tilt wheel/3 range transmission and a seat that floats up and down.
It is a pleasure to operate.
