Yes, the Novavax has snippets of spike protein as antigen -— however, it is a finite non-replicating amount that does not splice into the genome at any point as far as I can tell from the scientific literature I have seen.

Doesn’t the J&J use the adenovirus as a vector to get the host cells to replicate the spike protein in vivo?

the novavax is a nanoparticle vaccine, and IS the spike protein; those proteins actually attach to the ACE receptors so it bypasses using the cell’s organs to manufacture the first spikes

“Unlike mRNA vaccines, the spike protein is already premade in the Novavax vaccine. It’s a shortcut,” explains Dr. Florescu. “All the synthesis happens outside the body and we just give the end product: the spike protein.

J and J is a DNA vaccine, it uses a adenovirus (cold virus) to enter your cell, the DNA carried in is programmed to produce the spike then shred it into inactive fragments. It acts more like a conventional vaccine and is similar to Astra/Zeneca and the Sputnik V vaccines.

“”Once the adenovirus gets inside your cell, the spike protein gets manufactured by your own cellular mechanisms,” explains infectious diseases expert James Lawler, MD, MPH.”

just to add, J^J may have a rare clotting issue seen mostly in women over 30 and under 50, and in men over 70 (from what I have read)

Issues with Novavax aren’t known because it hasn’t had real world use yet.

Both are good for remote areas because they can survive outside refrigeration for a day or so and don’t require the deepfreeze of Pfitzer and Moderna

Could you break this sentence down to vernacular terms for us non-scientists? Appreciate any additonal clarity you can provide.
