It reads: “It’s worse than what we thought.”

I'm afraid I don't really get it.

The Hebrew at the top translates as this: "For Qatar lovers and interested people, Charlie lost the Frenchman on the hypocrisy and Qatari bipolarity on the one hand, there is the transfer of Messi to Paris Saint-Germain and on the other hand host and fund the Taliban."

The Charlie Hebdo headline translates from French as "It's worse than we thought".

The person identified as Messi is Lionel (Leo) Messi, an Argentine soccer star who plays for the Paris Saint-Germain Football Club.

I find no evidence that Leo Messi is a Muslim, or that he has any interest in or connection to Islam, so that aspect of the apparent irony is opaque to me.

Unfortunately Twatter won't let me see more than a small fraction of the cartoon unless I sign up for Twatter.

Nope.

Surely the cartoon is available somewhere that's not Twatter?

Messi is mo Muslim. But point is, Qatar handled the Messi deal supposedly eing close to western culture, yet it supports Taliban.

Ps
As to google-translate it is not always precise, the Hebrew translate here means Qatar-interested fans of the matter but not really "lovers")

What I take from it, at my distance from the context, is that Charlie Hebdo is extremely sensitive to any involvement of an Islamic state in prominent French soccer league, even if that involvement pertains to the financial support of the team in its desire to hire an extremely talented Argentinian player.

From what I can tell, Messi is possibly the best soccer player in the world at present, or anyway among the very top tier of players internationally.

The Paris Saint-Germain FC is apparently an extremely successful team, something like the Buffalo Bills or the Miami Dolphins here.

Yup. The cartoon exposes Qatar as an Islamic fanatic and not as “ Westerner “ as it appeared when it handled the Messi deal.
