The US is extending non-essential travel restrictions at its land borders with Canada and Mexico through at least September 21, the Department of Homeland Security announced Friday, citing the Delta variant of the coronavirus.
"In coordination with public health and medical experts, DHS continues working closely with its partners across the United States and internationally to determine how to safely and sustainably resume normal travel," the department tweeted.
The US has been limiting non-essential travel along both borders since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic and extending those restrictions on a monthly basis. The restrictions don't apply to cross-border trade, US citizens and lawful permanent residents, as well as people traveling for medical purposes or to attend school, among others.

Open the border to illegal aliens, over a million so far, with supposedly 19% infected with Covid.
But do not allow tourists and other ordinary border crossers to do so.
It is insane.

I have about 10 friends who flew into Mexico in the last week and most are there til tomorrow.
They’ve been there a week .
But, land crossing is bad ...

Agreed, I am certainly not amused with this as they won’t let me and others go to northern New York state (Ogdensburg, Watertown, Syracuse) to shop or in my case, go to a U.S. post box to pick up items. But they will certainly let illegals come up and spread COVID.
Some animals are just more equal than others. And the pigs are the most equal of them all.

I don’t think this can be true. I live a block and a half away from Matamoros, Tamaulipas Mexico and I pass through their customs multiple times weekly. I don’t even need a passport. Only American customs needs ID. No one ever told us anything about not crossing.

Well, that’ll sure put a stop to illegals. Not.
You can’t travel to Mexico but you can sneak into America from Mexico and be welcomed with open arms, a comfort pack and some Kamala cookies.
